    From A Whisper To A Scream – (Chapter: please…)

    “with who?” I asked

    “Doctor Berk…” she told me

“are you kidding? After earlier today? After you telling me to choose you…you’re going on a date with someone else…?”

“no, no…after you told me you were walking away…you treat me like a fucking ping pong ball Ashley! I’m going on a date, and as for the rest of today…it would be nice if you would just leave me alone!” she told me before walking away and I let her go

I went to go check up on her mother right after she turned a corner

“Doctor Carlin…” I said getting her attention as she read a book

    “ah Miss Davies…” she said

    “I prefer Doctor…” I told her

“my apologies…” she told me “so…may I see my test results?” she asked

“Doctor Carlin…I understand that you believe you still run this hospital but you don’t…I am your doctor, I am the doctor in this situation…so no, you may not see your test results…you can lay in that bed and listen…” I told her “…the cancer has spread to your throat which would explain your throat pains…it’s not strep like you thought…the breast cancer is severe, and we’re booking you for the O.R. tomorrow so we can remove it before it spread further…” I told her and she had a look of fear on her face then I turned to walk out of the room

“how much are you going to take?” she asked

“as much as I can…” I told her trying to sound sincere “…doctor Carlin it may not seem like it, and I know as a doctor we’re trained to help our patients no matter how much the recovery may hurt…but unlike the other doctors here I care about my patients…” I told her

    “and my daughter…” she added

    “excuse me?”

“you care about my daughter too…” she said looking at me “…I see the way you look at her…the way she looks at you…I just hope you can change her life for her…” she told me while looking at her magazine

“no one needs to change her life…she’s brilliant, gorgeous…and this side of her she shows around you and the self conscious side she shows around everyone else is your fault…you called her ordinary…and she is everything but ordinary…” I told her “…and I will see you tomorrow in the OR” I told her before walking out of her room
