From Spangs to Spashley – (Chapter: Chapter Nineteen)

Ashley was sleeping on her bed with a smile on her face. Spencer quietly entered Ashley’s bedroom with a tray of food in her hands. Ashley turned to the other side of her bed and was mumbling in her sleep. Spencer put the tray down. “Flying monkeys,” Ashley said in her sleep. “Too many flying monkeys surrounding me and they won’t stop following me. I need to use my superpowers to stop them. Spencer was trying hard not to laugh. “Now I need a screwdriver to drive my car.” She stroked Ashley’s face and placed a light kiss on Ashley’s lips.

“I love you so much,” whispered Spencer. “I would be absolutely nothing without you.”

Ashley opened her eyes and a smile formed on her lips. “I must be dreaming,” Ashley began. “Then again someone as beautiful as you couldn’t be ever a dream, Spencer.” A smile formed on Spencer’s lips.

“You’re not even fully coherent and yet you say the sweetest things to me,” explained Spencer. “Were you pretending to sleep the entire time?”

“It’s all in a day’s work,” Ashley pointed out with a smile. “Nah, I wasn’t pretending to sleep at all. Too much work to do that.”

“Good morning, my beautiful birthday girl,” smiled Spencer. Spencer kissed Ashley softly on her lips.

“Good morning, babe,” Ashley said returning the smile.

“How does it feel to be turning seventeen on this wonderful Saturday morning?” asked Spencer with curiosity. “Inquiring minds want to know this.”

“I’ll have to get back to you once I feel a year older,” Ashley admitted. “Right now, I still don’t feel a day over sixteen.” Spencer chuckled.

“Alright, I’ll hold you to that promise, missy,” responded Spencer. “I realized two very interesting things about you and your sleeping habits this morning, babe.”

“What’s that?” Ashley asked as she sat up. “I hog the bed, I snore or something…”

“You sleep talk,” answered Spencer simply.

“I do not!” Ashley protested. “People sleep talk on television, but I do not sleep talk. No way that I do.”

“Really?” questioned a skeptical Spencer. “Unless I was hearing things this morning, which I believe I wasn’t. I heard you talking about flying monkeys and needing a screwdriver to drive your Porsche. I don’t know how I never noticed that before when we would have sleepovers, but I noticed it this morning.”
