Ashley was driving up the road towards the overlook she’d taken Spencer and Aiden the night after the dance.  Spencer had asked her to go so place quiet and it was the first place that came to mind.  Once they had left the hospital Spencer hadn’t said much but Ashley could tell that Spencer was hurting.  As soon as they reached the overlook Ashley turned off the car and sat there in silence with Spencer.

She could see the tears flowing down Spencer’s face again and she desperately wanted to take all of the pain away but she knew from experience this kind of pain only went away with time.  All she could do was make sure that pain didn’t consume her.

“I hate her,” Spencer said in a far off voice breaking the silence.  “Everything she said and then she just walked away without a fight for her family.  What really hurts is that I was almost happy when she did because I knew that she couldn’t keep us apart.”

Ashley reached over and took Spencer’s hand in her own. 

“Look at me Spence,” Ashley coaxed her to turn towards her.

After a moments hesitation Spencer turned to her.

“Nothing will ever keep us apart,” Ashley paused.  “Your parents marriage may be at an end but despite everything your mom said and did I know she still loves you.  What you have with your family is something I only dreamed of.  You have an amazing father that loves you unconditionally, a brother that would do absolutely anything for you, hell even Glen would do anything for you, and your mom despite her views on us loves you more then my mother has ever loved me.  One day your mom will accept who you are and then you can have all that again.  But till then just know you always have me.”

The tears that had been flowing from Spencer’s eyes were being replaced by a look of love.

“When did you become the positive reassuring one in this relationship,” Spencer questioned.

“The moment you needed me to be that person,” Ashley confessed. 

Spencer and Ashley shared loving looks. 

“When I’m with you everything seems less crazy,” Spencer confessed.
