Give Up – (Chapter: Repost)
CHAPTER 1
“Davies, you really think Nixon’s gonna give you this promotion, over me? Yeah right we both know your getting the SV job.”
Don’t say anything. Keep your mouth shut. Breath. Inhale…Exhale.
“If you really think Nixon is going to promote you to Narcotics then you must be….”
Finally all the shit they taught me at the academy is coming to good use. The ability to block out peoples voices and focus on only your thoughts comes in handy. You see the asshole next to me is Cooper, we met and graduated at the academy together. We were actually great friends until he introduced me to his mother.
I take a quick glace to my left and realize that Cooper is still rambling on about god knows what. I think back to the look on his face when he found out I’d been fucking his mother. Its was the kinda look that I made when I changed my nephew’s first shitty diaper. Needless to say we haven’t exchanged pleasant remarks since.
I sigh loudly and look at my surroundings. I’m sitting on a fairly large black leather recliner. There’s a small coffee table that separates me from the asshole. Underneath the table is a fairly nice carpet which runs underneath my recliner and sticks out barely touching the wall to my right. The room is painted a solid white with bare walls with an exception of the light switch located near the wooden door. Right next to the door is a small gray filing cabinet. In front of me is a small wooden desk that matches the door with a plush leather chair behind it. With the name ~Nixon~ neatly carved in the front.
I lean my head back against the recliner and close my eyes for a moment. I let Cooper’s voice invade my thoughts again.
“I’ll have a nice office in California and every time I’m feeling low I’ll just picture you….” I tilt my head so we are just barely making eye contact. “in this shitty place interrogating pedophiles.” He ends his little rant with a smirk and a smile and I can’t help but think how pathetic he is. He looks at me expectantly like he’s preparing himself for one of my famous comebacks.
