    Spencer comes to a realization.

     “It’s okay, Spencer. Consider this your way of figuring everything out between the two of you.”  

     

    Maybe I had temporarily gone crazy. Maybe it was the alcohol. Or maybe it was just all the hurt and pain her disappearance had caused that I had bottled up within me. I barely even noticed that Carly was holding my hand, leading me back to her house. But I did notice the difference between her touch and Ashley’s as she straddled me on her bed. I’d only been with Ashley, but Carly was rough and I found myself not enjoying it too much; she kissed all the wrong spots, was overly aggressive, and just didn’t feel right. Ashley was gentle and loving; she was sensitive to how I felt. I don’t know why I let it go as far as I did but luckily, my judgment kicked in before we had sex and I stopped her.

    “What’s the matter?”

    “I just can’t do this,” I told her as I stood up and began to put my clothes back on. She looked a little hurt at first.

    “I understand, I guess,” she replied despondently.

    “You’re great, Carly, but I can’t… not under these circumstances.” To avoid further confrontation, I said goodbye and walked out, headed for my car. It was on this walk when I realized that I needed to be with Ashley. I really did still love her. I couldn’t understand why it took Carly and a sort of break-up for me to fully realize that but I had and I wanted her back. Still, I needed assurance that she wouldn’t pull anything like that again. Allie was right; you can love someone all you want but at the end of the day, if they don’t treat you well, it’ll never work. I hoped Ashley had learned her lesson.

    I hadn’t noticed that Carly had put her clothes back on and proceeded to follow me.

    “Spencer, wait!” she called out. I stopped; I don’t know why, but I did. “I’m sorry.”

    “It’s not your fault. I shouldn’t have led you on like that,” I replied. All of a sudden, as my guilt began to penetrate my mind, I started to cry. I couldn’t believe I had even let it get that far. How could I do that to someone I love? Especially Ashley?

    2. You should never worry about people reading your stories…..even though I don’t comment all the time, I certainly look forward to reading whatever you write. Keep up the story, as I certainly look forward to each new post :)

    4. Amen for the safety bar on that rollercoaster! So here’s the thing, throughout history the words, “You’re secret’s safe with me” have been used many teams only to be followed by shit storm. I’m pretty sure someone told Richard Nixon that his Watergate “secret” was safe. I’m pretty sure that Monica Lewinsky told Bill Clinton that his “secret” love of, umm, cigars was safe with her. And I’m also willing to bet that Tom Cruise’s “secret” lifestyle…oh wait, that hasn’t happened yet. My point is that I’m hoping Spencer and Carly’s tryst doesn’t end up in some paper, courtesy of Carly. In the event it does, I’d like to reserve a front row seat to that ringside action of Davies vs. Carlin. High-5 on another stellar chapter, Kozmic! Please post soon

    6. I AM SOOOOO EXCITED THAT SPENCER FIGURED OUT HER FEELS FOR ASHLEY. I AM GLAD THAT CARLY UNDERSTANDS WHY SPENCER HAD TO LEAVE AND THE THINGS THAT SHE SAID ABOUT ASHLEY WAS FUNNY!!!! I can’t wait to read the next chapter and take care.
