Honey and the Moon – (Chapter: Chapter Five: I Felt You In My Legs Before I Ever Met You.)
Chapter Five
It’s hard to tell if it was the beer or Bailey’s influence that made me call Spencer. It rang once, I chickened out and hung up the phone before she answered.
“What the fuck Ashley? Just call her! What’s the worse that could happen?” Bailey said, starting to get on my nerves.
“She could tell me she never wants to see me again.” I said, looking at my phone. Just then my phone started vibrating, and I was horrified to see Spencer’s name on the call display.
“Oh my god! It’s her! Should I answer it?” Panic was starting to over take me.
“Answer it Davies!” Bailey practically screamed at me.
“No…I can’t! What will I say?” Just before Spencer was connected with my voicemail, Bailey ripped the phone out of my hands and flipped it open.
“Hello?” I turned to face her, my face feeling hot with anger. I thumped her in the upper arm, and mouthed a fuck you.
“I know this isn’t Ashley. This is her friend Bailey.”
I couldn’t hear what Spencer was saying on the other end, and it was really starting to worry me.
“Well actually Spencer, she is far too upset to come to the phone. I don’t know what the fuck you’ve done to make her this way, but if I were you I’d already be on my way here to at least try and make things better…”
I gave Bailey a quick thumbs up.
“Okay then Spencer, I guess I’ll see you a bit.”
Bailey closed the phone and looked at me with a big grin on her face.
“She’s gunna be here in twenty minutes.”
“I owe you one buddy.”
“Yeah, yeah. Let’s smoke another joint before she gets here.”
We stayed outside, drinking beers and coming up with a game plan. When the door bell rang, Bailey went to get Spencer and bring her out back. When they came walking out, Bailey was just about to get to the really embarrassing part of the story she was telling about one of our young teenager adventures. But thankfully, as soon as Spencer’s eyes met mine, she stopped listening.
“Okay fine, I’ll tell you the super horrifying story later Spencer. I’m just going to go inside and play a little X-Box 360. Not that you two are even listening to a word I say…” She turned around and walked back inside, leaving me and Spencer in awkward silence.
Spencer came over to the patio set and sat down where Bailey had been sitting. She looked at me, and I shifted my eyes to the ground.
“How’s your brother?” I mumbled, afraid of the answer.
“Oh he’s fine. We talked it over, and he’s not going to tell my parents anything.”
“Does he still think I was taking advantage of you?” I say, still looking at my feet.
“Umm, no actually, I told him everything. I told him I love you more than anything in the entire world, that you would never do anything to hurt me, and that I didn’t care what he thought.”
I was in shock. Happy shock, but still shock. I just sat there, still starring at my feet, not really sure of the right thing to say. Thankfully, she kept going.
“So, he said he wouldn’t say anything to anyone, and when I am ready to tell Mom and Dad, he will be there to support me, no matter what. Surprising actually.”
I looked over at her, still not sure what to say. Instead of saying anything, I closed the distance between us and gently kissed her lips.
“So what now?” I asked, pressing my forehead against hers, while my heart was beating out of my chest.
