I Don't Know What To Do Either.

    Dear Fans,

My sincerest apologies if you did choose to read this post. I found out tonight that season 3 will in fact be South of Nowhere’s last season.

It spread through the Spashley Forum like wildfire, and I did refuse it to be true for a few hours, until it was in fact confirmed. The M, who has been a very reliable source, began by telling us that there would be an announcement that is 99% bad and 1% good. The only good thing I could possibly think of would be a list of what the actors will be pursuing instead of their roles on South.

Mandy Musgrave (ashley), Gabrielle Christian (spencer) and Matthew Cohen (aiden) have opted out of continuing South of Nowhere because the network is not paying them what they are entitled to.

I do feel this is another issue, and another proof of how corrupt Hollywood is becoming. First we struggle through the writers strike, and now actors are having problems with newtorks and money. I just don’t feel like anyone is truly getting what they deserve.

What honestly bothers me is the fact that South of Nowhere has truly been ground breaking since 2005. It has been nominated for Glaad Awards, which proves that it is making a difference throughout the community. Many teens have felt somewhat comfortable enough with their family and friends to come out, because coming out and issues of that nature come across as so real through this scripted series.

Tommy Lynch truly started this series to make a difference, and to bring real life issues to the public eye. Mandy Musgrave and Gabrielle Christian have said pleanty of times that their fans really open up to them and mean so much. They are well aware that these roles are important to many people of all ages, whether they be teens in the closet, or parents struggling with accepting their children.

If it were up to anyone in their position, I do believe they would quit as well. I’d like to believe that there are people behind the scenes fighitng for this series. February 24th should be a day we all celebrate South of Nowhere and the impact it has made on the lives of thousands.

I do not know how much more I can write on this, because I myself feel like I’ve been punched in the stomach. The fact the network can be so careless makes me sick. All we can do is hope that South of Nowhere will one day return, maybe to another network who is not afraid of the gay demographic.

South of Nowhere is the beginning of an era.

    1. this totally sucks n ive been reading it all over the place tonight. its feels like my hearts been broken and stomped on and punched in the stomach, eye, nose then my head was slammed into the wall and/or floor thousands of times

    2. Dude I know this sucks so much @$$!! I was on The-N and I saw all these boards and i was like NOOOO!!! So now that this is the last season I wonder how its going to end, Spashley or no Spashley, or if theyre going to move it to a different date again….who knows, all i know is this SUCKS!!

    3. i think it will definitely end with spashley. im just sad because i really connected with spencer’s character…her relationship with her mom after she came out was exactly like my own. it’s sad that they cancelled it, but alas it is just a show. Hopefully we’ll get to see the actors do more in bigger roles, and plus we’ll always have fan fics

    4. i am immensely saddened to hear this *sighs* i just hope if this is truly the end that the finale better be one hell of a finale like me cry with happiness finale. that’s the only way i think i could deal with this. though i’m in such deep disbelief that i’m it just boggles the mind that the n can’t work things out with the actors.:(

    5. omg its soo sad that this show is ending. it is a great show and im super pissed at the n right now. this show gave me the courage to come out to my parents and friends and it will always be special to me

    6. Well all good things must come to an end.*tear* But this show didn’t really have enough time to devolope. This is REALLY sad and depressing.*tears* Well lets atleast hope that the-n will do reruns..like they do stupid Degrassi every day. (no offense but im just a little tired of seeing those people everytime I turn the-n on)

    7. what? no! please.. please tell me it’s not true. if it’s true then it’s super sucks! what’s wrong with the n? they need to reboot everything that’s on their minds. SON is the bestest show i’ve ever watched!! ah come on.. please god give me mercy :'(

    8. man it’s been a crazy ride. My friend who is gay watched this show so I watched it with her. I didn’t know if i’d be into it because she could relate in a way I couldn’t. I wasn’t into the first season but I fell in love the second season, went back and watched the first and fell in love more. I can honestly say i’ve never enjoyed a show more than this one in my life. I get butterflies when I see a new promo or the day of a premiere. It was the most original show i’ve ever had the pleasure of watching as well. This isn’t an issue of the-n choosing not to pay the actors enough so we shouldn’t treat it as so. Networks are a business, businesses run on money. They are given a particular budget. They can’t just get rid of other projects to pay of actors for a 4th season. All good things must come to an end and we should be greatful that the-n persevered through all the criticism it got for airing a taboo show such as SON. The-N gave SON a home for 3 years amidst annoyed parents and American censorship and political correctness. 3 seasons is a mile stone for any show but it is so much more for this one.If I could i’ll pull money out of my own pocket to pay these actors, that’s how much I love this show, and I honestly bet, if the-n could do something realistic they would.Let’s focus on the positives. We got this show, we were a part of history! There will be more like this to come, but none will ever be SON!
