Spencer’s POV

Tap…tap…tap…What time is it? I’m awakened by the sound of some kind of tapping noise at my window. I look over at the clock and it reads 12:06. Ugh, what’s tapping at my window at midnight! I walk over to my window and look down and I find Ashley below throwing pebbles at my window. I open the glass doors and walk out onto my tiny balcony.

"What are you doing?" I whispered down to her.

"I couldn’t sleep, soo I came to see you." She said, smiling up at me.

"Do you know what time it is?" I asked her

"..Yeeeesss" She said, kicking dirt up like a nervous little kid.

"Well, don’t just stand out there, come inside!" I said, motioning for her come up here.

"No, I wanted to take you somewhere."

"Ashley, it’s midnight!" I said, but we both knew that i didn’t really care what time it was, so I soon asked, "Okay, whatever. Where are we going?"

"You’ll see. Just get dressed and come outside." She said. Ashley and her surprises.

When I got dressed, I climbed in Ashley’s car, wondering where we were going. When she started driving she looked over at me. "I bet you want me to tell you where we’re going, don’t you?"

"Yeah, I kinda want to know where you’re taking me at, I looked at the clock, 1 AM."

"Well, that’s too bad. Do you trust me?" She asked me, like that was even up for debate.

"Of course I do." I said leaning over and giving her a peck on the cheek

"Well then it doesn’t matter where we go, you’ll just have to wait."

"Can I have a wittle hint." I said with my signature puppy dog pout.

"I’m only going to tell you that for where we’re going, you’re gping to be too cold wearing that." She said motioning towards my sweatpants and an oversized Ohio State shirt of Glen’s. "So you can wear this, if you want." As she handed me a hoody that said King High Volleyball and said DAVIES on the back.

"You play volleyball?" I asked in disbelief.

"I played last year, it was okay but not really my thing. I played in middle school and grade school, but it’s not really my cup of tea anymore." She explained while I just laughed "What?" she asked

"You’d look so cute in those tiny little spandex shorts." I teased

"I hated those things! They were recipes for wedgies." We both started laughing "We’re here!" She said excitedly as we pulled up to the beach.

I put on the hoody and Ashley came around and opened my car door and helped me out. She put her arm around my waist and we walked out onto shore.

"I’ve never seen the waves this big before!" I said, amazed by the size of them.

"They’re always this big at night." She told me.

I ran up closer to the waves, just enough so that my feet could get wet, and I plopped down on the sand, quickly joind by Ashley, who replaced her arm on my waist.

"I’m so excited!" She said

"For what?" I asked

"That you’re coming to King High soon!"

"I know, I am too. Ashley?" I said while yawning, starting to fell the effects of 1 am.

"Yeah, Spence?"

"I love you."

That’s the last thing I remember before dozing off while watching the waves in Ashley’s arms, the whole world feeling perfect
