"God, I swear people are always yelling in this house" Spencer grumbled to herself. To be completely honest Spencer didn’t want to go to school today, she hated having to move all the way from Toledo, where she had lived all of her life, to L.A. She didn’t want to make new friends, she wanted to keep all of her old ones.

"uh…5 more minutes Ash.."

"That’s what you said 5 minutes ago. Now get up!" Ashley opened up Kyla’s blinds, letting the bright California sun in.

"Okay fine I’m getting up."

"I can’t believe that summer’s already over and we have to go back to school. King High has to be the worst place on Earth."

"Well obviously you forgot about Gateway."

"Oh yeah…tied for 1st…definetly."

"Yeah….now get out so I can get ready."

"K. Just be down soon if you want a ride to school."

"Hey Glen, are you excited for high school?" Spencer asked her older brother

"I don’t know…kinda…but I’m kinda nervous y’know?"

"yeah."

"Don’t be nervous, Glen. Half of the rumors that people tell you about high school aren’t even true. High school is nothing to be afraid of." said Clay, Spencer and Glen’s oldest brother.

"Thanks, Clay. I feel a little better now."

"Good. So, you guys ready to go?"

Just as Kyla turned around to start walking, she bumped into a very lost-looking blonde and fell over.

"OOMPH. Oh, my gosh, I’m sorry I wasn’t watching where i was going!"

"No, it’s okay neither was I. haha. I’m new here."

"Yeah, I figured you were I don’t recognize you from last year"

"Yeah I moved here a few weeks ago from Ohio"

"Wow, that’s pretty far. So what brings you to LA LA Land?"

"My dad got offered a job out here, and my mom thought a change of scenery would be nice for my "condition".

"Condition?"

"I’m not sick, but my mom seems to think that being gay is a disease"

"ohh. wow."

"Oh, are you not comfortable with me being gay?"
