    Author Notes:

    Takes place towards the end of “That’s the Way the World Crumbles.” What I like to imagine happened and then what happened afterward.

    Tick….Tick…..Tick…  Spencer lifted her tear-streaked face with a look of confusion towards the window.  As she opened the window her mood changed from devastation to pure elation.  Staring down at her love, she read the sign "We’re Running Away."  Always apprehensive, she shook her head in disbelief, but the apprehension was short-lived as Aiden placed the ladder against the house and Ashley gave her infamous nose-crinkling grin.  There was no question about what she would do.  She had to choose love.

    Spencer quickly ran to her closet and pulled out a duffel bag.  Throwing in all the essentials, she tossed the bad to Aiden and proceeded cautiously and quietly down the ladder.  Ashley watched adoringly as Spencer reached the grass.  Unable to control herself any longer, she ran to the blonde enveloping her in a tight embrace.  Breathing in her scent, she felt like she would never let go of the girl.  They did, however, pull apart and Ashley looked in Spencer’s piercing blue eyes brimming with tears.

    "Spence, what’s wrong sweetie?"

    "I’m just so glad to see you.  I didn’t think I’d see you again," she croaked out, her voice breaking.

    Ashley wiped the tears away with her thumb.  "Nothing could stop me from getting to you," she said with so much love in her voice.  She leaned in placing a soft kiss on Spencer’s lips.  It soon turned more passionate as they both realized what might have happened if Paula had had her way.  Ashley felt Spencer’s tongue gently graze her bottom lip and she opened her mouth in response letting their tongues collide, which elicited a moan from the two girls.  Spencer’s hands ran through Ashley’s curls as Ashley brought the girl closer, running her hands up Spencer’s back.

    "Ahem" Aiden coughed.  The girls reluctantly pulled apart.

    "I hate to break up this lovefest, because I really am enjoying this, but if we don’t get out of here, you may be facing the wrath of Paula again."  The girls knew he was right, so they took off, jumping into the backseat of the Exterra.  Aiden started up the engine and drove off leaving the unsuspecting parents, Arthur and Paula, behind.

    Ashley quickly grabbed Spencer’s hand lacing their fingers and gripping her girlfriend’s hand as if they would be torn apart.  She brought the hand to her lips and placed a gentle kiss on Spencer’s palm.  Spencer blushed and placed her other hand on Ashley’s thigh, running light circles with her thumb over the brunette’s flesh.
