Lost Love – (Chapter: Flashbacks Pt. I)

    Ch. 2

      Spencer’s POV:

That night, I dug around in my closet for the guitar Ashley had given me on my birthday. Aiden had no idea about our past (Me and Ashley’s) and tried to drag to me to bed with him. “Spencer…come to bed…I want to hold my boo.” He said, grinning at me. I kissed him on the cheek and ran my hands through his hair. His hazel eyes twinkled and he placed his arms around my waist. “I’ll be in soon.” I reassured him. Aiden whined a little before complying like a good little boy. I giggled. Aiden was so cute; no wonder Mom thought he was the perfect man for me. I turned the acoustic guitar over in my hands; it was an extremely expensive Martin that Ashley once had; her very first guitar, she told me. It was worth a sum of money since she was the daughter of Raife Davies and she had played it in concerts like Vans Warped Tour with her band. I hadn’t heard anything bout her band ever since we were separated. I sighed and sat down to play myself that song she had taught me how to play. I found the picks she had give me shaped like hearts and began to try to tune the guitar. It was extremely out of tune since I hadn’t touched it for months. I had gotten all of the strings in tune except for the E string, and was working on it when all of a sudden it snapped without warning. “Fuck!” I cursed, since it snapped and hit my hand. Ouch. I hate the E string; it’s thin and stings when it snaps and hits your hand.  I was going to have to get new strings tomorrow. “Damn.” I muttered, placing the guitar on my desk. I was going to go down to the store tomorrow and change all the string; the rest of them were getting old anyway.

By the time I got to bed, Aiden was already fast asleep. I stroked his hair and kissed his cheek before turning off the lights. I tossed and turned for a while, unable to sleep. I sighed aloud to myself. I thought I was over her. But there are nights like tonight that haunt me. I loved Ashley. Did she know I was finally back in L.A. after being sent back to Ohio for my senior year? I heard she tried to look for me in Ohio. I knew she’d never be able to find me, though. I had been sent back to my grandparent’s farm in a secluded town. Courtesy of my mother, of course, once she found out about us. Those horrible memories still come back as fresh as if they had happened yesterday. Poor Ash. I never really did try looking for her again. L.A. is simply too big and too vast. She doesn’t live at her old house anymore, and her phone number’s changed. Now that she’s s a rockstar, that’s not very surprising. I have no way of contacting her, and even if I could, what good would it do? My mom would kill us and only try to separate us once more. I’m sure that neither of us could stand a repeat of that again. Anyhow, I have Aiden. I got out of bed. There was no way I was going to be able to sleep tonight, not without the help of some pills. I popped some sleeping pills in my mouth and pulled out the bottle of wine left over from the night before. I wonder how my life would have turned out if my mother hadn’t found out about us and separated us… I must have fallen asleep right after that, because the memories came back in my sleep sharp and clear as ever.

    2. WOW. I remember this story. Glad to see it back again. I can’t believe for one second Spencer is happy with Aiden. I hope her and Ashley’s paths cross. You ended it with, “I wonder every day whether it was worth it. Whether it’s better to have experienced love and then have lost it than to have never loved at all.” Maybe it’s time for Spencer to stop wondering. She is older now, Paula can’t run her life forever. It’s time Spencer makes a stand. PMS
