Love and War Intoxication – (Chapter: 17 – Riot Girrls! & A Fiery Winter Evening)
‘Speaking words softly… so slowly, can’t you see?’ the voice of Lara Jade from the Black Rain EP sang through Ashley’s car speakers. Spencer had taken a nap after both of the girls had drank a cup of cappuccino at the local coffee shop before heading over to Ashley’s mansion. Ashley drove into her driveway slowly before screeching to a sudden halt. Spencer woke up with Ashley’s hand on her chest. Groggy, Spencer rubbed her eyes. “What’s going on wifey?” She asked as she pulled herself together. Ashley grunted in annoyance. Ahead of her car was a rather large white van with the Channel 28 NEWS label on either side of it. “Crap… the media knows about Kyla’s involvement with Elena’s bullshit. Come on Spence, I’m going to take you back home.” Ashley replied as she placed her hand on the stick shift and clutch. Before she could reverse, a reporter came running towards Ashley’s convertible. “Miss Davies! May we have a word with your sister, Kyla? She appears as though she isn’t available so can we ask you some questions?” He asked as he kept tapping on Ashley’s window. On Spencer’s side, many reporters were attacking her window as well. “Let’s go now, Ashley. I’m really uncomfortable.” She said as she tightened her seatbelt. Before Ashley replied, the brunette lowered her window by a few inches so the reporter wouldn’t shove the microphone in her face. “Leave Kyla alone or I will report you to the authorities as you are trespassing on my family’s private property.” she demanded before she pulled a fast reverse to avoid the reaction of the reporters. As she had backed up, her car scraped against a sharp edge from the gate but Ashley paid no mind. “Ashley, you just scratched your car!” Spencer told her as she attempted to look at how bad the damage was. Ashley just laughed. “This car is only material. It doesn’t matter to me. Now come on, I need to drop you off.” the girl replied as her car picked up speed. When they arrived at the Carlin’s place, Ashley got out of the vehicle first and ran over to Spencer’s side so she could open the door for her. “Why thank you very much, my beautiful wifey.” Spencer said as she kissed Ashley’s hand gently. Ashley could only smile back. “You don’t have to thank me, Spencer Davies. It was my pleasure.” she told her as she led Spencer to the main entrance of the large house. Before Spencer could unlock the door with her keys, the door just flew open anyways. Glen had walked out and bumped into Ashley before realizing she had been standing there. “Wow, excuse me girls. I’m sorry but I’m in a hurry. Tell mom I’ll be right back. I’m going to visit Clay and Chelsea.” He said as he nodded at both of the girls. Spencer and Ashley simply shrugged and instead of walking in with Spencer, Ashley stood in the doorway entrance. “Ashley? Aren’t you going to come inside?” Spencer asked as she waited for her reply. Ashley shook her head. “Sorry Spence. I’m going back to my place but I need to stop somewhere special first. I’ll see you later, babe.” Ashley replied as she turned around to walk away. “Wait, what do you mean somewhere special? Are you gonna buy me something nice?” Spencer called out as she grinned widely. Ashley made a 180 and gave Spencer a thumb’s up. “It’ll be a surprise. I swear you’ll love what I have in store for you.” she said before turning around again. Spencer waited at the doorway until she saw that Ashley left the neighborhood. The girl walked inside and finally closed the door. She shuddered as it was bitterly cold outside. Paula had walked to the living room and found her daughter walking towards the couch. “Hey sweetie. Do you know where your brother went?” She asked as she walked right to where Spencer was sitting and sat beside her. Spencer nodded and smiled at her. “Yeah, he was in a hurry to go visit Clay and Chelsea. I guess he was in a rush because the storm might get worse tonight.” Spencer said as she cuddled up with her mom. Paula patted her head and turned on the television with the remote by her pillow. “Oh okay, thanks Spencer. By the way, did you have a fun time with Ashley this afternoon?” She asked as she flipped the entertainment channels for the news. “I had a fantastic time with Ash today. We went to the mall and stopped by the coffee shop this morning. We couldn’t go to her house since the media is like swarming her front yard so she dropped me off. She also said she has a special surprise for me later.” Spencer replied. Paula looked over at her daughter and smiled. “That’s lovely, once you get your surprise, promise me you’ll tell me what it is. Oh, sweetie, want me to bake you some brownies?” Paula asked as she embraced her daughter closely. Spencer simply nodded and because she was tired, she shut her eyelids and rested upon her mother’s shoulders.
