Love Knows No Age – (Chapter: 1 Babysitting)

Four years.  When you’re young four years seems like a lifetime.  But as you get older the years seem to go by so fast and four years doesn’t seem like such a big deal.  Ever since I was sixteen the idea of four years has plagued me.  It was the only thing standing in between me and true happiness. Well, I’m through with that bullshit, fuck the four years.  What does age have to do with love anyway?  Love knows no age.

You’re probably wondering what the hell I’m talking about so I guess I should fill you in.  My name is Ashley Davies.  I’m the daughter of rocker Raife Davies and his bitch ex-wife Christine.  I was fifteen years old when my life seemed to fall apart.  You see my dad died.  After his death I found out I had a younger half sister, Kyla Woods.  She came to live with my mom and I, which I have to admit I was none too thrilled about.  Okay so I down right hated the idea.  But Kyla grew on me, what can I say the girl is like a fungus but in a nice way, of course.  Well anyway, Christine, my loving mother, was never really around after that, which neither Kyla nor I minded.  I was getting by in life; doing okay in school with a few friends, but my life got flipped upside down again when I turned sixteen.

Don’t worry nothing tragic happened.  It’s just that I met the love of my life, only I didn’t know it yet.  Spencer Carlin was a scrawny blonde haired, blue eyed girl of twelve.  She was innocent and sweet, so different from the crowd I was used to hanging with; it was nice.  She and her family had just moved to LA from Ohio.  And as fate would have it, they were my new next door neighbors.

The Carlins were so nice.  They invited Kyla and I over for dinner on Sundays bcause they knew Christine was never home.  They also had two sons, Glen and Clay, who were two years older than Spencer.  Mr. and Mrs. C were always busy working.  Paula was a surgeon at Cedar Sinai Hospital and Arthur was a psychiatrist/social worker.  The Carlins were a very busy family.  Glen was always involved in some sporting event and Clay had science fairs or some other shit for smart people, not like I would know anything about that.  But anyway, Arthur and Paula were never home during the day and neither were their sons; therefore, they need someone to watch Spencer.  She was only twelve and her parents didn’t think she should stay by herself; little did they know I had been watching myself since I was ten.  But this is where I came in.  I can remember it like it was yesterday…
