Lover Awakened
I pulled up in my Porsche into the King High parking lot. It was a sunny, cool, and breezy Monday morning. God, I hated Mondays since it was the beginning of the week and I had to deal with annoying teachers and boring classes. I don’t even know why I bother showing up half the time. I noticed Spencer was waiting for me at the front steps of the school. I knew I couldn’t run away from her forever, but I wanted to though. I hadn’t talked to her since the kiss. I dropped off the face of the planet and ignored her calls, texts, and pretended not to see her in school. I was still processing what happened. I never processed things so slowly in my whole life. I didn’t tend to overanalyze things since that wasn’t my style, but things were different now. I don’t know how, but they were. Everything happened for a reason, right? I got out of my Porsche and walked towards Spencer.
A smile formed on Spencer’s lips. I didn’t understand why she was happy to see me. Spencer gestured for me to sit down next to her. “I’m so sorry that I scared you off,” Spencer began with a sad sigh. Hold the phone. Spencer was the one apologizing to me? I was never one for apologizing, but I was the one who had been ignoring her. “I shouldn’t have kissed you to begin with. You just broke up with Brittany and kissed me back since you were caught up in the moment.”
“It’s not your fault,” I pointed out with a sigh. Was that all I had to say to her? I mean I wasn’t the best with apologizing or receiving any academic awards, but was that all I could come up with? I bit my lip since I thought I would have to say more to her. I didn’t know what to say. I know we kissed, but I wanted us to remain friends? I was involved in a number of disasters, and there was no one to pick up the mess until I met you? The friend thing sounded better. “C-could we at least stay friends?” I noticed Spencer looked disappointed and looked at the ground. The ground looked more interesting than our conversation. “Spencer, look at me.” Spencer reluctantly looked at me. There were tears that were falling down her face. “There are plenty of attractive girls at King High who would love to be with you.” Spencer sighed in exasperation.
