    Spencer goes to boarding school and meets Ashley and her crew

    Renee: “Michelle, my money’s on you. It’s been too long since anyone has challenged Gage to a fight and I’m thinking she’s a little rusty!” Renee’s smile is conniving and the rest of the girls laugh. The thin Asian girl cackles along with them and her short pink hair sways on the top of her head.

    Tina: “Sorry, Mich, but I’m bettin’ on Gage. She maybe small but that girl’s got some fight in her. I saw her take on Mr. Numan and I’ve never seen anyone go down that quick! One punch and the man dropped like a bunch of fuckin’ freshman’s panties in Ashley Davies’s dorm room.” Tina’s tough New York ascent made it slightly difficult to understand her, but the message was clear: Gage fucks people up and Ashley just fucks them.

    Jessica: “See, I told you everyone talks about them.” I just nod and continue eating my eggs. But too late, I’ve been noticed.

    Tina: “So, blondie, got a name?” Tina’s dark eyes give me an intense stare. I return it with a lazy look not really wanting to make friends and not interested in their gossip. I’m just gonna keep my head down until I turn eighteen and then I’m getting the fuck out of here.

    Spencer: “Sure.” I return back to my food.

    Renee: “And? What is it?” I sigh.

    Spencer: “Spencer, my name’s Spencer.” I decide that I maybe should play nice just in case I need some alleys. “Sorry, long trip, just hungry. What’s your names?” I hope my face doesn’t show my disinterest and they can’t tell my smile’s fake.

    Jessica: “Sorry, Spencer this is Michelle, Tina, and Renee. Spencer just moved here from Ohio.”

    Michelle: “So what are you?” What a loaded question.

    Spencer: “I’m sorry?”

    Tina: “Mich wants to know if you a delinquent, a brain, or a baby.”

    Spencer: “Huh?”

    Renee: “Well, I got a 2350 on my PSAT’s so I’m a brain. Tina’s got arrested twice so she’s a delinquent, and Jess and Mich’s are loaded, so they’re babies, cause they’re here being babysat instead of their parents actually spending time with them. Here, you one of the three.” I debate how I want to answer. Letting them know why I’m here doesn’t seem like the right move yet.
