Once Spencer arrived home, she was surprised to see Aiden sitting on the couch in his pajamas eating a sandwich. “How did the interview go?” She asked brushing off the fact that his time could be better spent.
“I don’t know. They said I should hear back from them in a couple of days.” Aiden said whilst shoveling another bite into his mouth.
Spencer made her way to the kitchen and poured herself a tall glass of V8 juice and then returned to the living room to sit with Aiden. She must have not been able to hide her good mood for long because Aiden soon picked up on it.
“What are you so happy about?” He asked finishing off the chips he had with his sandwich.
“What, I can’t have a good day?” Spencer asked.
“Not when you’re dealing with a bunch of six year olds.” Aiden joked, but Spencer didn’t find it funny. It was little things like these that could help decide which way their future was headed. This indicated that Aiden didn’t want kids like Spencer did.
“I happen to like my job.” She said defensively. “And if you must know, I’m going to a…thing with a…friend.” Spencer didn’t know what to call this thing she was going to or what to call Ashley. They were barely acquaintances much less friends.
“A thing with a friend,” He repeated not sure if she was attempting to hide something or if she had a brain block.
“Yeah, I met this girl today and she is a musician and she is taking me to this place where you can learn about all different types of music. It sounded cool so I took her up on the offer.” Spencer explained.
“Well, have fun but don’t be home too late.”
“Shoot, did we have something planed?” She asked worried she had forgotten.
“No, but I thought that tonight I could get a celebration in the bedroom?” He questioned as his male testosterone took over.
“Maybe the celebrating should wait until you actually get the position.” She said hiding her disgust.
“You’re right.” Aiden said shocking his girlfriend but soon proving he only had a one track mind. “So let’s do it just for the heck of it.”
