My Summer of Love – (Chapter Thirteen: Before It's Too Late)

"Spencer!" I yelled trying to get her attention, but she didn’t hear me. "Spencer, wait!" I yelled again and finally she saw me. I walked over to her quickly and stood infront of her.

"Spencer…" I sighed out of breath.

"Ashley, what are you doing here?" She questioned.

"What? Did you think I’d just let you leave like that?" I asked, "No way in hell Spence." I said.

"Look Ash, I’m Sorry I-" She started to say.

"No, stop I don’t want to hear it, it’s okay," I said, "This hurts I know, trust me I know. But I think what might have hurt that most was not being able to say goodbye to you, when all this time I was thinking the hardest thing ever was having to see you go." I said and she gave me a funny look.

"Right, I guess that didn’t make much sense?" I said getting a slight chuckle out of her. I smiled and grabbed her hands in mine, intertwining our fingers.

"Spencer Marie Carlin, I hope you know that after this, after you leave," I started to say, "Im not going to give up. I’m always going to keep trying, and fighting to be with you again. I just need to know if that’s what you want. After you leave, will there still be an us?" I asked looking deep into those crystal blue eye, searching for an answer.

         "Ashley I-"

"Excuse me Ma’am? Are you boarding this flight?" A flight atendent lady came up and asked.

"Um, yes, I’m just saying goodbye." Spencer told her. The lady nodded and walked away to help some people to their plane.

"Ashley, there will always be an us," She said, "No matter how long it takes, I’ll be with you again, because true love like this, is hard to break."

She said with a big smile. I gave her my best known smile and leaned in to kiss those lips one last time. We met for a soft long kiss, and during it, I thought of everything that happend between us that lead up to know, which only made me kiss her with more passion.

When we pulled apart I took the little time that I had to just stare at her. How to this day I’ll never forget that beautiful face that I saw for the first time. How she makes my heat pick up pace, that head tilting smile makes me melt, and her smoothing touch makes me weak. All the thing I was going to miss.

"I love you Ashley." She said softly as her hand caressed my cheek. I close my eyes and leaned into her touch. Ingraving her feel into my soul.

"I love you too Spencer." I said staring back into her eyes.

"I’m sorry Miss, but I need your ticket now."

The same lady said as she came up to us. Spencer nodded and with her gaze still fixed on me she picked up her bags. I watched as she walked closer to the one thing that was pulling us apart. She handed the flight atendent her ticket while looking back at me.

I made sure to memorise every feature of her right now, making sure I would never forget this moment. I smiled at her and mouthed ‘I love you’. She smiled but still at the distance I could see the hurt in her eyes as she was mouthing ‘I love you’ right back. With that and a few steps later she was no longer in sight.

I sighed as I walked over to the glass window to watch her plane. With in minutes it began to move and take flight into the air. A tear fell down my cheek as I watched her go. I there will be a day when I see her again. We may be apart in distance, but never at heart. Still watching that air plane grow smaller and smaller, I heard my cell phone ringing.

         "Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Ash, when’s Spencer’s flight?" Aiden asked.

By this point the plane was no longer insight, and at that instant I felt somthing tug at my heart. I sighed and whipped the tear from my cheek as I stared out the big glass window.

"It already left Aiden… She’s gone."
