Never Let This Go – (Chapter: The Visit Part 2)

    Ashley’s POV

Ashley: She hits you. Doesn’t she?

    Spencer: …

My heart broke into pieces when she didn’t answer me. She just looked at the ground never making eye contact.

    Ashley: Doesn’t she Spencer?

My voice was just above a whisper. I didn’t want to seem angry. Even though deep down inside I was filled with anger. Stand there. Wait for a reply. Don’t force it. My mind kept repeating the same thoughts over and over again. She was hurt both physically and emotionally. I just wanted to comfort her. So I did the only thing I knew how. I walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her. Or at least tried to. She moved away from me and in her eyes I saw it all. She was hurt, angry, but most of all scared.

    Spencer: Don’t touch me.

Ashley: I just want to help you Spence.

Spencer: I don’t need your damn help.

By now she was looking directly in my eyes. Her face hardened but underneath it all I knew she wasn’t angry. She was just inches away from my face now. I seriously thought she was going to swing at me before the unexpected happened. A silent tear ran down her cheek. Her face that was once sculpted by anger, had softened.

Ashley: Nobody deserves the shit she’s putting you through..

    Spencer: Not even me?

    Ashley: Especially you.

Spencer: But I’m worthless. Maybe I do deserve it.

Ashley: Do you even hear yourself? You are far from worthless Spencer. Maybe to Carmen you were. But Spence, you don’t even realize how special you are. She’s an idiot for saying you were worthless.

I placed my hand on her side and she winced in pain. Shocked, I pulled away and apologized about a million times. She just smiled and said it was ok.

    Spencer: It just hurts…

    Ashley: Let me see.

Spencer: No Ash, I’m ok really.

    Ashley: Spencer.

She sighed and pulled her shirt up far enough for me to see the black and blue marks that covered her ribs. I ran my fingers over it slightly. It was bumpy and that made me even angrier. But I had to keep my cool. I told Spencer to lay on the couch and that I’d be back in a few seconds. I ran up the stairs, taking them 2 at a time. By the time I had reached the kitchen, I thought my leg muscles were about to fall off. Time for a smaller house. I got the ice I wanted and walked back down to the studio. Spencer was laying down on the couch so I walked over to her and told her to take her shirt off.

Spencer: You want me to do what?

Ashley: Chill horn dog. Its so I can put the ice on you. The shirt will hold it back.

Spencer: Haha. Ok. Whatever you say.

She pulled her shirt off and laid next to me on the couch. My arm was under her so my hand was touching her side. I held the ice to her side and she just cuddled up next to me. That night, I felt safe and I knew she felt safe too..
