North of Somewhere (A Story) – (Chapter: The Migration Frustration)
“Hey….yeah…..yeah, I’m fine……of course…..how is he? Did she come and see him? Oh……well, if you want to……Dad……yes…..oh no, she doesn’t care…..I promise, really she doesn’t….ok……yeah, she’s good….” Spencer sat on Ashley’s bed, continuing a phone conversation with her father. Originally it was supposed to serve the purpose of asking her dad for permission to spend the night at Ashley’s, but with so much going on in the Carlin household, it had turned into a much longer ordeal.
Ashley was bored. To be honest, she was VERY bored. She didn’t grasp the concept of parents wanting to talk to their children or children wanting to talk to their parents and she didn’t think that now was a good time to start-especially after Spencer had declared her “readiness” and she was sitting on the bed…her head innocently tilted to one side, her free hand twirling her hair. In other words, the sight of her was driving Ashley crazy.
“Yeah…..well, I think so too….uh-huh…..ha! He would totally say that…..yeah, I know…..what did she say?” Spencer said into the mouthpiece, completely unaware of Ashley’s pain….well, that is until Ashley slid over to her spot on the bed, evidently tired of waiting and wanting. She had begun to suck on Spencer’s neck, working her tongue over Spencer’s pulse point.
Spencer was completely taken by surprise, “Hey, Dad? Could you hold on a second?” she asked into the phone.
“I’m sorry, am I bothering you?” Ashley asked with a smile.
“Uh…I must admit, you’re making this conversation a little difficult.”
“Oh…” Ashley answered, removing herself from Spencer’s neck completely, “By all means, continue.”
Spencer looked deep into Ashley’s eyes before returning to the phone, “Yeah….yeah, everything is fine. What were you saying?”
Ashley behaved herself for all of five seconds. She worked her hands underneath the fabric of Spencer’s tank top, her fingers slowly moving up Spencer’s stomach.
“Dad…yeah, sorry, could you hold on again for a sec? Ok….”
Spencer stared at Ashley who was still moving her fingers upwards.
“You’ve got to be kidding me, Ashley…”
“What?! I’m not even doing anything!” Ashley answered with a well-practiced straight face.
“Uh-huh…..” Spencer replied, suppressing a smile and returning to the call.
Ashley decided that this was the perfect opportunity to test Spencer’s supposed readiness. She jumped off of the bed, walking casually over to Spencer’s side of the bed, she kneeled in front of her.
