Not A Day Goes By – (Chapter: Down On Her Back She Goes)

     2 years earlier:

Tears went unnoticed as I race down the street toward Ashley’s house. The fight that had just ensued between my Mother and me scares me to death and the only thing I can think about is getting to Ashley’s. She’ll know what to do. So I hoof it to her house, beating my fist against her door. She opens it immediately and I fall into her arms, letting all my emotions come tumbling out. "Come on." she whispers against my ear, taking me in the direction of her bedroom. I collapse on her bed, putting my face in my hands as I hear her close the door.

"She knows." I say through my hands, not looking at her.

"Who knows?" she asks, sitting next to me and putting her arm around me. Leaning into her body, I look at her for the first time since I’d gotten there, "My mother…she knows about us." I whisper, trying to calm my erratic breathing.

Her beautiful brown eyes widen in shock, "Wha- how?!"

"Glenn." I get up from the bed and start to pace, "He saw us kissing in your car last night."

"That crippled bastard!" the anger in her voice stops my pacing and I look at her. Tears brimming my eyes, she’s next to me in a blink of an eye, enfolding me in a tight hug. And I hold on with all my might. "It’ll be OK. Every things going to be fine." she assures me, wiping the tears from my eyes.

I pull away from her shaking my head, "N-no…its not going to be OK."

"Of course it is!" grasping my hand she tries to pulls me against her but I turn away. She puts her hand on the small of my back and a sob escapes my lips, "She’s sending me away." the hand falls as I utter those painful words.

    "Sh-she can’t do that!"

"She’s called my aunt Julie in Ohio, it’s already done!" I hang my head in sorrow, I can’t look into her eyes.

"Ohio…" Ashley whispers, sitting back down on her bed. I watch out of the corner of my eye and see as tears start to form in her eyes. My heart sinks a little lower as I watch one single tear fall from her beautiful face.
