Nothing But A Heartache – (Chapter: Chapter One: Fairytales)

    Nothing But A Heartache

    Chapter One

Love is a funny thing. Some people spend their lives trying to find it hoping to discover it’s true meaning. Others believe it’s merely a fairy tale that never ends with happily ever after. I used to one of those people who wanted to find love more than anything. And with luck, I was able to find it, twice.

However I’ve also had my heart broken twice. And when I say broken I mean my heart was shattered into tiny pieces and then each piece was burned until it melted away. So I guess you could say that I believe love is just a fairytale. Make believe stories parents tell their kids so when they grow up they have something amazing to look forward to, when in actuality love is nothing but a heartache.

    4 YEARS EARLIER…

    ASHLEY’S POV:

Tonight is my two year anniversary with my girlfriend Laura. We were going to go have a nice, romantic dinner together, but she called me and said she had to work late. I was so mad at her when she called and cancelled, I mean it’s our anniversary. Anyway when I got off the phone with her I calmed down a little and realized she is been working really hard lately to get a promotion at work. I felt really bad for getting mad at her so I decided that I would pick up some Chinese food when I got off work and surprise her.

    Ashley enters Laura’s apartment.

    Ashley: Laura? Sweetie?

That’s odd. Normally she would be in the living room with papers scattered everywhere working on her latest project. I look over to her bedroom and her door is closed. She must be taking a nap or something. I set down the Chinese food and the yellow roses I bought for her on the counter. I grab some wine glasses from the cabinet and pulled out a bottle of Champagne from the fridge.

I start walking to her bedroom with Champagne and glasses in hand when I hear some noise coming from her bedroom. I quietly laugh to myself because she has a habit of talking in her sleep. As I get closer to her door I can still hear the noise, it kind of sounds like…moaning. My stomach begins to churn.
