    Chapter Twenty

     

    SPENCER’S POV:

    It’s been a few weeks since we went to the police about Dante. The detective Ashley talked to called and said Dante had been arrested and is now awaiting trial. Anyway, Ashley’s memory has been getting better everyday, but it’s not completely back yet. I’m kind of glad too. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy she’s getting better but what’s going to happen when she remembers her past relationships with her ex-girlfriends. Is she going to go back to the insecure and scared girl she used to be? If she does, where does that leave me? Where does that leave us?

    Ashley and Spencer are in a nice restaurant having dinner. They are sitting at a table sitting across from each other looking at their menus.

    Ashley: How was work?

    Spencer: Fine.

    Silence.

    Ashley: I was thinking, since you’re off this weekend maybe we could go away for the weekend. Drive down to Santa Monica.

    Spencer: Ummm…I don’t know I’ll have to check my schedule. I have a test next week and a paper due.

    Ashley: Well we can just go up there on Saturday and come back that night, that way you have all day Sunday to study.

    Spencer: I don’t think so Ash, maybe the next weekend.

    Ashley puts down her menu and a little frustrated.

    Ashley: Alright what’s going on with you Spencer?

    Spencer: Nothing, I told you I have schoolwork to do.

    Ashley: You’re not very good at lying, especially to me.

    Spencer: Well what’s with the interrogation?

    Ashley: I’m just trying to figure out why you have been acting so weird lately.

    Spencer: Look can we not do this here.

    Ashley: Fine!

    Ashley throws her napkin down on the table.

    Ashley: You stay here and enjoy your dinner, I’m going home.

    Ashley gets up and walks out of the restaurant.

    1 HOUR LATER…

    Spencer knocks on Ashley’s apartment door. Kyla opens the door.

    Kyla: Hey Spence.

    Spencer: Hey Kyla. Is Ashley here?

    Kyla: She’s in her room.

    Spencer: Thanks.

    Kyla steps aside and Spencer walks in.

    Kyla: I have to warn you, she was pretty upset we she got home earlier. What happened?
