Nothing But A Heartache – (Chapter: Truth)

    Nothing But A Heartache

    Chapter Seventeen

    ASHLEY’S POV:

When I woke up this morning I couldn’t stop thinking about the flashback I had. When I first met Aiden after the accident he seemed like a nice guy. And Kyla never said anything about him being into drugs. I tried asking her earlier but she did her best to avoid the situation. I had to find out what really happened between Aiden and I. So, I borrowed Kyla’s car and told her I was going to pick up something to eat.

    Ashley: 301. 301

Ashley slowly drives down a neighborhood street looking for Aiden’s house. She eventually pulls up the right house and pulls over.

Well here I am. This is a huge house, he must live with his parents. I take in a deep breath and rethink this idea. Can I really trust Aiden? Right now, I don’t know the answer to that question but I have to find out. I step out of the car and walk across the street to his house. When I arrive at his front door I hesitantly ring the doorbell. After a minute someone finally answers the door.

Mrs. Dennison: Oh my, Ashley dear! It’s so nice to see you.

Mrs. Dennison steps onto the porch and hugs Ashley.

    Ashley: Hi Mrs.-

Mrs. Dennison: Oh stop, please call me Mary.

Ashley: Hi Mary. Is Aiden here?

Mary: Yes dear, come on in.

    Mary and Ashley enter house.

Mary: He’s upstairs, I’ll go run and get him. You just make yourself at home.

    Ashley: Thanks.

Wow this house is big. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took Mary a good hour to find Aiden. In a way, I hope it does. I’m beginning to have second thoughts about coming here. Before I can change my mind and run out the door I hear someone coming down the stairs.

    Aiden: Ashley, hey.

    Ashley: Hey Aiden.

    Aiden: What’s up?

Ashley: Can we take a walk?

    Aiden: Yeah sure.

Aiden and Ashley leave Aiden’s house and walk to the park.

Aiden: I was surprised when you came over. I haven’t had a chance to see you that much with Kyla and Spencer playing guardian.

Ashley: They’re just looking after me.

Aiden: Sorry I didn’t mean it like that.

Ashley: It’s okay. Look I need to ask you about something. It’s why I came to see you.

    Aiden: Okay, go ahead.

    Ashley takes in a breath.

Ashley: I had a flashback last night when I was sleeping. I thought it was just a nightmare, but Spencer thought I might be getting parts of my memory back. Anyway, the flashback was of you and me. We were in a dorm room arguing…about drugs. Things got heated and you tried to hit me.

Aiden doesn’t say anything, but shifts uncomfortably as he walks.

Ashley: Is there something I should know about you Aiden?

Aiden: Ash I…I’ve made a lot of mistakes in the past and a lot of them were with you. I wish I could take them back, but I can’t. I got into drugs after high school and it put a lot of stress on our friendship. I wasn’t the same person when I was on drugs. But I’m different now, I promise.
