Nowheresville – (Chapter: Sands of Time: Chapter 29 Part 2)
Story written on March 2, 2008 by blakrose13.
"Spencie, what was that for? I’m a grow woman. I can drink as much coffee as I want." I say starting with my bacon.
"Because you don’t need any more coffee. You’re going to get an ulser. Besides, you’re not acting very grown."
"Whatever. What do you know?"
"You’re just upset about what the waitress said. You just told me to grow up and face the facts Why don’t you try it?"
"Spencer, please let’s not do this. We’re not even engaged and we’re already having marital spats." our orange juice comes and it burns my throat when I chug it. I pull out my wallet and make sure everything is in there. New driver’s liscense, cash, school ID, library card, movie rental card, Barnes & Nobel membership card, picture of Kyla, regular ID, oh yea and my motorcycle liscense. I haven’t told Spencer yet but Saturday when I was at the DMV I got a cycle liscense because a few weeks ago I ordered a custom Harley.
"You really need a purse hun." Spence says eyeing my wallet.
"Purses are so disfunctional. That’s why I like things with pockets." I say picking up our bill. I didn’t even realize we were done eating. The resturant has gathered a bit of a crowd and I’m ready to split.
"Yea, if pockets are so great then why is half your stuff in my purse?" she says sipping her juice slowly. I run my hand up her thigh.
"Because you need a lot of stuff in there to wack the yuppies over the head hard enough." I say as flashes of previous bashings resurface. When I was 14; Aiden and his goons, when I was 16 trying to protect Spence in the bathroom of the skating rink and then 8 months ago in the Barbie isle of Walmart. Don’t even ask about that one.
"Yea but that never stops them." she says distantly. I know she’s thinking about it too.
"Ready to go, Snickerdoodle?"
"Sure Sweets, I’m up for anything."
I throw a tip on the table and lead Spencer to the register. We pay and go out to find my scooter defaced. The words "Burn In Hell Dykes!’ are keyed into the paint.
"Oh why’s it always me?" I say imitating Nevile Longbottom.
"Shit! Ash what are you going to do? This is vandalism of private property. You can sue." Spence says as we get on the scooter.
"Nothing. It’s ok. This thing is SO old any way." I peel out of the parking lot. Trying to leave the pain behind.
