    Orientation – (Chapter: Chapter 1)

    Orientation

Traffic. Thick smog. The occasional honking car horn. Just your average Friday morning in Southern California.

Ashley should be used to this though her body language suggests otherwise. Running her hands along her smooth steering wheel, at times pounding her palms against it, her growing impatience shows.

Still, one glance at Spencer in the passenger seat makes the situation somewhat tolerable. The calming effect she has on Ashley is something Ashley has been searching for without knowing it her entire life. Of course, being in a committed relationship has not been free of temptation for this self-labeled ‘wild child’ but it has been well worth it, that is until now. Now is the reason Ashley is stuck in a vile three lane jam way too early in the morning on a gorgeous July beach day. Now marked Spencer’s college orientation at Berkeley, almost 400 miles from her.

“It’s official. This is so not fun.”, Ashley said staring ahead at the sea of cars surrounding her Porshe.

“Hey, I told you I’d take the plane. You didn’t have to drive me.”, replied Spencer lifting her head from her orientation package, which includes city guides to San Francisco and the gay metropolis playground, The Castro.

“I can’t believe your mom is cool with this.”

“Whatever. She’s too busy making sure Glen doesn’t kill himself. The poor guy went from full basketball ride at Duke to cafeteria work study at L.A. Community. She could care less what I do or who I do.” Spencer rubs her hand along Ashley’s knee forcing the slightest smirk to cross Ashley’s lips.

“I think we should get off.”

“Works for me.”, Spencer said flirtatiously. Ashley’s smirks turns into a sly grin.

“I meant the highway.” Disappointed, Spencer returns to her brochure. Ashley spots the nearing exit and recklessly swerves through a lane to make it. Angling through the turn off the highway, Ashley can’t help but spy Spencer intensely reading the school materials resting on her lap. Sometimes the hottest moments Ashley spends with Spencer are unbeknownst to her. Under the guise of a ‘study date’, Ashley will pretend to work on some songs while watching diligently Spencer prepare for an exam. In actuality, Ashley’s songbook acts as a shield to cover her sliding her hand down her tight True Religion jeans to pleasure the pulsating ache out of her system, an ache that is getting stronger with each passing second in the car.

    1. I loved this story, and I loved how you showed that Ashley’s not all that good at being in a relationship and needs to test the boundries still. But, I don’t think the words twat and pussy were necessary. Don’t get me wrong, they are great words but they didn’t seem to fit the story or the voice.
