“hey Spencer…right?” I asked not really remembering what she looked like

“yeah…you’re Brooke”

“yep…that’s me…” I said feeling nervous “…so um, I know you’re back in town, and Ashley was telling me how it’s tough for you to move to LA again to write for the magazine…so I bought you a little like, town warming gift I guess…” I said holding out a bamboo “…and you’re probably like ‘ok a tree?’ yeah it’s a lucky bamboo though…and I figured you could use one…help you get settled and everything…”

“um…thanks I guess?” she asked

“yeah, but look if you need anything…I’m here” I told her then she didn’t say anything so I left and drove to work

After work I went home around five and Ashley was going to be at the studio for a while because she promised me she’d record with Aiden…when I was at home the doorbell rang

“it’s open!” I yelled from the kitchen then Spencer came in “oh spence…ash wont be home for another hour or two…” I told her

“actually I came to talk to you…” she said

“ok?” I replied

“look…I know with the bamboo you’re trying to mark your territory or whatever…and I’m just saying it out loud so you don’t have to, and I’ll say this…I didn’t come back for Ashley…” she told me off a tangent

“Spencer…I have wanted to work in public relations my whole life, and once I finally landed that job my best friend gave me a bamboo tree to let me know that I had finally made it…” I said walking to the door and she followed “…it’s nice you didn’t come back for Ashley…” I told her opening the door and she said nothing then she left

Once she left I got into my car and I drove to the label to see Ashley…when I walked in Aiden was in the studio messing with the sound board, so I kept walking and went into Ashley’s office and she had on her glasses looking so cute and her face was buried in paperwork then I knocked on the door and she looked up with a pen in her mouth

“oh hey baby” she said getting up

“no you don’t have to get up…” I told her sitting down across from her desk leaning over giving her a kiss

“what’s up? How was work?” she asked

“good…short which was nice…” I told her “…so I got a visit today…from Spencer”

“at home? What’d she say?” she asked me interested

“she told me she didn’t come back for you…” I told her

“well that’s good…” she replied not knowing what else to say

“yeah…” I said simply

“hey…what’s wrong?” she asked

“look…I’m only gong to say this once and I hate that I’m saying this, but I’m trying not to be the jealous girlfriend…like I’m trying so, so hard Ashley…but I just need to know…” I started “…do I…do I need to be worried about us?” I asked her then she looked at me with her puppy eyes and got up walking over by me holding my hands and getting down on her knees in front of me

“Brooke…I love you so much ok? and no one can change that ever…” she said then I couldn’t help but smile then she came back up kissing me
