Rip Out The Wings of A Butterfly

“We have to choices.” Ashley began. “One, we fill the sleeping bag with rocks and throw her in the ocean. Or two, we cross the California border then go to Mexico and dump her there.”

Spencer stood there without a sound for at least a minute just thinking. When she finally spoke up, her voice was not her own. It was dark and disturbing, even to herself. This is what happens to good girls when they do something and are forced to be tough. “I think the ocean would work best. But we should go out far enough so that there is no chance of her being found.”

“You mean rent a boat?” Ashley asked looking at the body on the floor.

Spencer nodded and stared into the ice blue eyes that remained lifeless and open.

With hell freezing over in our eyes

    Gods kneel before our crime

The cold night beat down on them as the water hit the side of the boat, rocking it back and forth. The water sloshed against the side of the boat as the girls sat there, staring at the makeshift body bag. Neither of them new what to do. Ashley figured she would wait for Spencer to be ready. But Spencer was waiting for Ashley to get it over with.

“Do you…want to say anything before we…?” Ashley offered. Spencer declined with a shake of her head. Ashley began filling the bag with the large rocks as Spencer cuddle herself in her jacket. “Are you sure you don’t…”

    “Just do it!” Spencer interrupted.

“Right,” Ashley said as she pulled the bag over to the edge of the boat. She let it fall to the water with a splash and it began to sink. “Lover’s duplicity.” Ashley spoke quietly.

“What does duplicity mean?” Spencer asked.

“Kind of the same thing as treason.”

Come on lets show, them your love

Rip out the wings of a butterfly

    For your soul, my love

Rip out the wings of a butterfly

The night fell silent as Spencer rushed to the arms of the brunette. They did what had to be done, and they no longer had to stay strong. Now was the time to break down.

The blonde thought her only memories of her mother would be the ones of her hatred and bigotry. Instead they were of the days back in Ohio when everything was perfect. Those days were gone now and had been gone for almost a year.

They say if you go out to the ocean in the middle of the night, you will begin to see strange things. The thing the girls saw was the thing they did and they would have to live with for the rest of their days.

Come on, and show them your love

Rip out the wings of a butterfly

    For your soul, my love

Rip out the wings of a butterfly

    For your soul

“Let’s go home.” Ashley said quietly as she started the engine of the boat and guided them to shore.

    5. You shot paula, You shot paula. Ok, I shouldn’t sing that over and over like you just stole a cookie and I’m telling mom. Come to think of it, we should nominate a ‘mom’. I’m thinking Grits. She’s kind of maternal. And neither of us would think of shooting her. It was… hmm, intense is one word. Slightly disturbing another. Acidic on the tongue. I liked it chicken little, I did. You should write more shock, you clearly can do it.
