    So much is going on in this thing. Happy dances, made up songs, jumping up and down, surprisingly deep conversations, and a little bit of cuddle time between two unlikely candidates. Read and find out…

     

    Spencer took a minute to respond. “Yeah. They know. My dad was ok with it. He’s a social worker; he sees this kinda thing all the time. I didn’t really faze him. My mom…she wasn’t so accepting. She’s one of the most religious people I know. She always made us say grace before every meal, Mass every Sunday. The whole shebang. When I came out I was 16. She disowned me for a while. Finally she apologized but that didn’t last long. She sent me to these brain washing camps, it was all about changing the way you thought. At the time I was really confused but the gay de-tox camp didn’t work. My mother was so mad. We aren’t on the best of speaking terms even now. Even after five and a half years.

     

    “I go home every major holiday but when she looks at me I can see that she hasn’t changed. Shortly after her failed attempt to turn me straight my, parents divorced. When I finished high school I got out of there as fast as I could. I went to college in Ohio, back in my home state. I still wanted to be around something familiar, but L.A. was just too painful. After a year there I could see things weren’t working out so I transferred to Cornell. It was harder that Ohio State but that’s what I needed. A change of pace and something to keep me busy. After a while  came to love New York. So I moved to N.Y.C. with some big dreams and that’s when I met you. I was really lucky the day I met you Sam.” Spencer sat in dejectedness.

     

    Sam didn’t know what to do. This was the first time she had opened up to him. He started to cry. What else was he supposed to do?

     

    Spencer looked up in surprise.

     

    “Why are you crying?” she asked.

     

    “I don’t know.” He said through laughter. “I couldn’t think of anything else to do.”

     

    Spencer smiled softly at him and crawled into his lap. They hugged.

     

    “You’re like the little sister I never had, Spence.” He whispered in her ear.

     

    “You’re like the older gay brother that I never had.” She said back.

     

    They laughed and the air in the room lost it’s tension. It was still a deep moment but it was ready to be over. Sam loosened his grip around Spencer and stared down at her.

     

    “Come on. Let’s go get you ready for Ashley. When I’m through with you she won’t know what to say.”

     

    They grinned at each other and headed to Spencer’s overflowing closet.

    1. hmm…#1 on the cool list? i’m sure it means nothing except that i was the first name you saw…but i’m allowed to pretend it means you think i’m cooler than them. right? haha. i’ll go ahead and pretend anyway…it makes me feel better :] anyway, awesome post!!!! i love it. especially when i click on the link and find out its FIVE PAGES LONG. makes my day :) really.

    2. Oh my god I can’t believe I’m actually on someone’s cool list… That has to be the first time EVER. I don’t even mind if killheroff is cooler than me. ANyway, story. I liked this line “Spencer expressed her amusement by laughing.” Co you know, Spencer didn’t express her amusement by throwing haddock. That would have been funnier, but probably on ly to me, and where would Spencer get Haddock eh? I loved it. The sweet moment with Sam was perfect. PERFECT. More yo.

    13. LOVE IT! I want more immediately, and also want Spencer to lose the bet! I like Sam, which is good, mainly cos he’s not a threat to the Spash relationship, what with him being gay – he seriously reminds me of one of my mates – but he’s also a laugh! anyways, update asap, you! :-D ;-) Jx
