Since Birth – (Chapter: 21: The Story Of DAD)

Ashley: “It’s ok. You didn’t know. Well anyway, I’m glad you came.”

Emily: “I’m glad you invited me.” I smile and she kisses my nose.

We hug and kiss then she goes to her car. I watch her drive off then I go in the house and close the door. I begin to go to my room, but I decide against it. I go to Spencer’s room. When I open her door she stands quickly.

Ashley: “How could you do that to me?” I ask hurt.

Spencer: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” she says, looking around her room.

Ashley: “Don’t lie to me Spencer. You know exactly what I’m talking about.” I say, my teeth clinched, tears filling my eyes. She looked down at her feet, then plopped down on her bed.

Ashley: “You told her to ask about my dad.” a tear escaped, falling down my cheek. She just hugged her arms together, with a guilty look on her face, looking around the room. Then it came to me.

Ashley: “You-you’re jealous…” I breath out. She brushes some hair behind her ear and continued looking around the room.

Ashley: “You, you told her to ask about him, so that I would get mad and we’d have this massive argument and break up. That’s what you were thinking, right?” I ask in disbelief. She looked at me and rolled her eyes.

Spencer: “Could you be anymore full of yourself?” she snapped.

Ashley: “Is that your way of saying yes?” she pursed her lips in anger.

    Spencer: “You don’t. Know. Anything!”

Ashley: “You have Aiden! Why do you care who I date?!”

    Spencer: “I don’t.”

Ashley: “Well then how could you do something, so hurtful?!” I ask, tears falling. “Am I not supposed to be happy?! Am I not supposed to have what I want?! What I need?!” I ask, full of pain, tears still falling. “Am I not supposed to have love.” I ask slowly, as the tears continue streaming.

Spencer: “You don’t love her.” she says shaking her head. I gulp.

Ashley: “I do.” do I really? I’m not sure about that yet.

Spencer: “You can’t.” she say, her voice heavy and tearful. “You love me…I want to…I…I want to, be…with you.” I look at her, and I have so many mixed emotions. Pain, joy, shock, frustration…fear.

Ashley: “And this is how you show me? Do you know how many times I’ve dreamt…imagined…hoped you would tell me that and actually mean it! You’ve burned me so many times Spencer." I shake my head. “Isn’t it ironic? I love you my whole life, you’ve had plenty of opportunities to be with me! But then…I finally get a girlfriend, I am finally happy, and that’s when you realize…you want to be with me.” I say crying full of frustration. “Well now it’s too late. I have a girlfriend, I want her, so get over it.”

Spencer: “I use to be the one you wanted, the one who made you laugh…the one who made you happy.” she says, tears teasing the brims of her eyelids. “Me.” she says, putting her hand to her chest. “You loved me.”

Her tears are falling, and even though she’s hurt me…a lot. I…I just want to hug her, wipe her tears away and make it all better. But I can’t…I won’t.

Ashley: “This is not my fault. You never loved me back, I have Emily now. Me and you…we barley talk anymore. I have Emily to do those things. Why are trying to take away what makes me happy?” I ask sadly, tears still falling.

    Spencer: “Because you have me!!!”

Ashley: “No I don’t. I don’t have you Spencer…not really. And the way we are now…I’m not even sure we’re friends anymore.” I say shaking my head.

Spencer: “Ashley don-” she put her face in her hands, then ran her hands through her hair. “don’t say this.”

    Ashley: “Truth hurts doesn’t it?”

Spencer: “No, because it’s not true!” she says shaking her head as tears fall.

Ashley: “Well I think it is. Friends don’t…use each other. Friends don’t toy with each others emotions. And friends….” I shake my head. “…they don’t hurt each other the way you hurt me Spencer.” and with that, I walk away to my room.
