SPENCER’S P.O.V.

Paula: “So this is for a class?”

Spencer: “Yes mom, I didn’t really have a baby. I think you’d notice if I was pregnant.” I laugh.

Arthur: “Oh, it’s like that thing we did when we were in high school honey. Remember with the egg?” He asks mom.

Paula: “Oh…ok.” She says unenthused. “You don’t want to have a baby for a while though, right?” She asks nervously.

Spencer: “Well…I don’t know when I want to have a baby, but I do know that I’m not ready for one right now.” She sighs relieved.

Paula: “Good, because I don’t think I’m quite old enough to be a grandma.” She laughs and I force a chuckle.

Spencer: “Yeah…”

Paula: “Well, you two have fun taking care of your ‘baby’.” She does air quotes.

Ashley: “Thanks.” She says sarcastically.

Arthur: “We’re going to get started on Thanksgiving dinner.” He tells us, then my parents leave us alone in Ashley’s room.

Ashley: “I think that your parents think you’re gonna sleep with a guy when we decide to have a baby.”

Spencer: “Yeah I got that.”

Ashley: “You’re not going to, are you?”

Spencer: “When we do have a baby we’re gonna talk about everything and all the options, and we’ll make that decision together.”

Ashley: “Ok.” She says, seeming satisfied with my answer.

Spencer: “But you’d want me to have the baby?”

Ashley: “Duh! My body’s too hot for that.” I sigh and shake my head at her. “What?!” I just laugh at her.

Spencer: “Fine, I’ll have the baby, but know this; I will not be a house wife, just cooking and cleaning and taking care of the kids. I’m getting a job.” I say assertively.

Ashley: “Alright, alright! I never said you had to be a house wife.” She laughs. I hear the baby begin to cry.

Spencer: “Well good, ‘cause I’m not!” She laughs again. “The baby’s crying.” I say getting up.

Ashley: “I got her.” She says motioning me to stay seated as she gets up.

She gets out the bottle and the diaper. She rubs the bracelet over her stomach but she keeps crying, so she changes the diaper and this stops her from crying. The baby coos.

Ashley: “I didn’t know she could make cooing noises.” She says surprised. I smile at her and nod.
