As my family gets situated in the car and we start heading to the O.C for Marissa, Glen is being Glen and keeps whining to my mom,

“That’s not fair, how come Spencer can invite Cooper and I can’t invite Madison.”

Eww, I hate Madison and her cheerleading squad. So I decide to speak up for what I think is right.

“Because Marissa hasn’t slept with the whole basketball team. Calling Madison a slut would be an understatement.”

“SPENCER CARLIN! That word is not to be said in this family!” My mom shouts at me.

“But mom, I’m only stating the truth!” I argue back.

"OUCH!" I yell as Glen just slapped my leg.

“Madison happens to be my girlfriend, and she is not a slut. At least she didn’t almost die of over dose in TJ last year.”

“GLEN, you don’t talk about Marissa like that!” My dad yells.

I grin and smirk. I love my dad. He’s always is on my side.

“FINE. But next time I’m bringing Madison whether you guys like it or not.” Glen says and then turns to me and mouths a “Fuck off.”

“That’s fine dear”, my mom tells him.

I’m not too happy about that but I look at Clay who is just staring out the window. So far he’s the only one in the family who knows about Alex. He liked her while the rest of my family thought she was a bad influence on me.

We pull up to Marissa’s massive house. I step outside the car and start walking to her front door. On the way I look at the house to the right and I see a decent teenage boy with blonde hair wearing a white beater and sweatpants walking to a black Range Rover. Hmm I wonder why Coop hasn’t mentioned anything about him to me.

I knock and Marissa opens the door with a beach bag over her arm. We say our hellos and as we walk to my car I ask,

“Who’s the neighbor boy?”

“Ohh Ryan” Marissa says, “He’s a kid from Chino, and he is a total badass. The Cohen’s took him in about 2 months and he’s really genuine guy and lets not forget to mention a total hottie.
