Spashley's Baby – (Chapter: Good Question)
Ashley had drifted off into a light sleep in bed that night. With the wedding 2 weeks away, and the startling news of people trying to make it illegal, things could seemingly not go worse. She was already excited about things going right. From the flower arrangements, the druxedo, the bridesmaids, the best man, Kyla, limousine, the band, Kyla, everything was already falling into place and now this. One little line added to the California constitution would ban Spencer from taking her last name. She rolled over and stroked Spencer’s hair. It was against the rules, sleeping in the same room when she already moved out, but Spencer needed her. There was no way she was going to leave her alone. Besides, after the whole ‘seeing her sister nude’ incident, walking around the old mansion wasn’t very appealing anymore. Before going to sleep, she had held the crying blonde in her arms before the quiet sobs had brought her to a minor exhaustion. Ashley only drifted after making absolute sure the tears would not plague her lovers eyes again. Now that Ashley was lying awake, reflecting on what the weeks could possibly bring, she heard the all to familiar heartbreaking sound of Spencer’s low whimpering. Ashley wrapped her arms around her from behind and kissed her neck.
“Come on Spencer. Don’t cry.” Ashley whispered. Spencer rolled over and revealed her slightly bloodshot eyes. She sniffled.
“I can’t help it Ash. God I can’t believe this is happening…” she sniffed again. “Why do they hate us so much?”
“They don’t hate us. Some of them just don’t understand.” Ashley answered.
“Or they just don’t want to.” Spencer sighed and buried her face into Ashley’s neck. “Please Ash. Tell me why….”
Ashley heard Spencer’s breath catch in her throat, which was a warning symptom of more tears. She didn’t now what to tell her. The truth was obviously dangling in front of her eyes, but Spencer wanted to be lied to. “You wanna know why Spence? I’ll tell you why.” Ashley got on top of her love and kissed her cheek.
“We’re weapons of mass destruction. Didn’t you know?”
A small smile crept onto Spencer’s face.
“Spencer Carlin, you didn’t read the handbook? It was in the gift basket. Didn’t you get one?”
Spencer shook her head.
“Wow. The head lesbian was supposed to send you one…should give them a call, they’re slacking off. But anyway, in the handbook, it clearly states that once two gay people decide to gay it up, there’s this little evil box inside of us that’s filled with perverted thoughts and actions. And you know what makes it blow up? Oh yeah, Marriage. Every time we make love, a kitten dies. Our evil boxes actually radiates to kill kittens. Why kittens? I don’t know Spence. No one ever will.”
Ashley felt Spencer giggle under her. She gladly joined in and relaxed a little.
“They’re just jealous of us baby. There have been gay people who’ve been together for 50 years, while some straight couples can’t even stay together for a entire summer. If they want to protect marriage so damn much divorce is what they should be after…”
Spencer pulled Ashley closer to her and kissed her forehead. “I love you Ashley Davies..”
“Damn straight. And soon enough, you will be my lovely wife and killing me for my money will be a option.” Ashley answered. The two shared another moment of giggling and cuddled together a little more. Spencer drifted off to sleep first, leaving Ashley to stay awake just a minute longer to truly wonder why. Deciding that the question was to hard to actually answer, she closed her eyes and hugged her lover a little tighter.
