Take My Air

“I cannot believe your doing this.” A disgusted Spencer spoke as she began to walk away from the brunette, her head shaking side to side.

“Look, Spencer, I just need a break. Some air. Some space. It’s only temporary.” Ashley spoke, having to jog to catch up. It always amazed her how fast the girl was capable of walking when she was upset.

“Well gee, sorry if I was smothering you.” The girl replied rolling her eyes as she continued to walk towards their next class.

“Come on, Spencer, don’t be mad.” Ashley was going through a bit of a crisis. She and Spencer had been together about 8 months now (her longest relationship) and she was beginning to panic. It wasn’t that she didn’t love her to death, she just wasn’t used to having someone rely so heavily on her. Besides, it wouldn’t hurt if Spencer would just lose her temper once in a while… The girl was so… Stable.

“What else am I supposed to be?” Spencer spoke, stopping in front of their classroom door. Those blue eyes of hers had taken on a harder edge, although they didn’t hide the hurt.

“I just…” Ashley realized several people around were eavesdropping on their conversation and lowered her voice, “We’ll talk about this later, okay? I’m sorry.”

Spencer’s head shook slightly in disbelief, and for a moment she looked utterly disappointed in the brunette across from her. After giving her a long, hard stare she turned around and walked to her seat, sinking into it with a defeated thunk. Ashley watched her go, feeling the sting of Spencer’s glare before she found her own seat.

“You alright?” The boy who sat beside Spencer inquired, brows arched with concern. Nick had always had a crush on the blonde, and even after she’d politely informed him of her ‘preferences’ he couldn’t help but be fascinated by her. Who could blame him? The girl was gorgeous.

“I’ve been better.” Spencer replied, not really looking over at him. He was a nice guy, and normally she’d be a bit kinder towards him, but she was really in no mood. Instead she spent the majority of her time focusing on decidedly ignoring the brunette across the room.
