    So Spencer…I am Wonderin’.

    Were they serious?  I turned quickly in my seat to search the bar for Ashley.  Not a glimpse of her.  Just then a waiter brought a bottle of water and set it in front of me.  He smiled and gave me a note before he walked away. I quickly read the note:

     

    Spence~

     

    Here’s the water you wanted. I hope you don’t mind me getting up in front of all these people and putting us in the spot light and me probably making an ass out of myself.  I just have a hard time asking you some things so I am going to try and do it they best way I know how, which is letting my music do it for me.  Well this isn’t my song…anyway I think you will understand.

    I looked quickly back up on the stage.  Ashley was just slinging her guitar strap on and adjusting the mic.  I couldn’t take my eyes off her.  I was nervous.  What was she going to sing?

     

    “Hey LA how’s it going?”  Ashley said.  There were loud yells, claps and some wolf whistles.  She smiled.

     

    “Right on!  That’s the LA I love.  Thanks a lot for letting me take over Tara and Margaret’s awesome show.  I promise it’s just for one song.  I am going to give you a warning though, in my family I just write the songs…my dad Raife…” She had to pause while the crowed cheered and then continued “..my dad Raife he is the performer so just bear with me.” The crowd laughed.  She seemed so at ease and natural up there.  I had a hard time believing that Raife was the only performer in the family.

     

    Ashley continued talking with the crowed as she tuned her guitar in. “So a couple of weeks ago I called Margaret and Tara and asked if there was any possible way I could sing a particular song tonight.  There was silence on the other end of the line and then Margaret asked “You mean your dad wants to sing, right Ashley?” and I said no ME.  They kind of hesitated so I told them it was really important and finally said that if they didn’t let me on stage to butcher one of their songs I was going to tear up the contract they had just signed with my dad.”  The crowd busted out laughing.  Tara and Margaret were laughing too.
