Taking the Long Way – (Chapter: 5: Loose Ends)
I couldn’t help but laugh. Yeah, her day was definitely not as cool as mine.
I got out of the shower and grabbed my clothes for the evening of Kaylen‘s bed. I looked in the mirror after getting dressed. I was wearing my favorite 7 jeans with a brown Prana camisole that had blue embroidery that matched my eyes perfectly. I had to admit I looked pretty damn good. Kayla came in to the room and I gave her a wolf whistle. She definitely looked good tonight. She had her shortish black hair styled perfectly. It reminded me of Mariska Hargitay’s Law and Order style. She was wearing jeans and a next to nothing black sheer top and a silver chocker with an emerald pendant that accented her dark green eyes.
“Jesus Kaylen, I am going to have to beat the guys off of you tonight!” I said. She gave me a dangerous smile that meant she was out for some fun. I shook my head. No wonder I kissed her as a freshman. Hell, if she wasn’t my best friend…and straight I would be after her tonight too!
The party was in full swing when we got there. Josh’s parties never disappointed. He had a huge dance floor in his basement, a hired d.j. and plenty of beer. Kaylen and I did our routine 3 shots of Crown Royal followed by a beer for a quick buzz and then slowed the drinking to just sipping to keep it going.
Just like I anticipated Kaylen had half the eyes at the party on her. A group of our friends took over the dance floor and we were having a great time. I watched Kaylen pull out some hysterical 80’s dance moves. She was the only person I knew that could do the “Running Man” and the “Sprinkler” and look hot doing it. After dancing like crazy myself, we both flopped down on a couch to catch our breath and do some people watching.
“Hey Spencer I just though I should let you know you are getting some serious looks from Jessie.” Kaylen said nonchalantly a few minutes later. We had the wingman routine down perfectly for each other.
“Oh reeaaalllly?” I drawled out. I let a slow knowing smile cross my face. “I didn’t know she was here.”
