Taking the Long Way – (Chapter: 8: Ashley)
Ashley closed the door to the house staring at a yellow slip of paper. It read, Spencer Cell: 541-622-0707. Where the hell was a 541 area code from? Oh right, she was from Oregon. I started to punch the digits into my cell phone contacts but stopped half way through. Why do I need this girls’ number. My mind was going through the pros and cons. From the first moment our hands touched that morning I felt something that I hadn’t felt in years. It was that first rush of contact with someone you consciously didn’t know you had a connection with, but subconsciously your body told you other wise. It was better than any high I had ever got from a drug.
I flashed back to 3 years ago. To a girl, the pain that came with the thought of her made my body cold. I couldn’t ever go through that kind of pain again. I closed my phone and the number disappeared off the screen.
“Grandma.” I called as I walked into a large sitting room. “Spencer left a number for you to call if you had any questions about Pearl.”
“Thank you , dear.” She said in a distant voice. “I am just so thankful that Spencer was here to help.” She turned to me “What did you think of her, Shley?”
“Ha….well we had a very interesting introduction.” I replied.
I filled my grandmother in on the whole story. To which she laughed and replied, “Poor Spencer, she must have been mortified!”
“Poor Spencer!?!” I snapped. “What about me? I practically was accosted by that floozy she had at her house. Now I have to pretend I like her because she works for you! Thank God I told her I was straight!”
“Oh Ashley, don’t be so dramatic! It might do you good to have another friend up here.”
“I have Aiden. He is good to me.” Aiden had been my best friend since high school.
“No doubt he is, Shley. He moved up here to go to school too you know, not just to be your support group.” She hesitated and the continued gently “Let her go Ashley.”
I felt tears stinging. I tried to defend my self.

I like Ashley’s grandma…cheeky! So Ashley lied about being gay, because she’s still in love with her girlfriend Cass who died on prom night…not for long though Spencer has away of getting under your skin and into the heart. I can’t wait to see how this story plays out. Looking forward to your next update.
hehe what a coincidence. Right when I suggest a Ashley POV story, you already have one pre-made. lucky me :) i got my wish!
