    Uncharted waters…

    After their vacation at the beach, Spencer and Ashley were certainly different.  The oddest part of the entire situation was the fact that, besides the awkward banter after their first kiss, they did not discuss or acknowledge in any way that their friendship had become something more.  However, almost like clockwork, the two would end up alone in one of their bedrooms and eventually, when someone dug up enough courage to make the first move, ended up making out.  A lot. 

    During their first two weeks back from vacation, neither girl had ever kissed anyone as much as they had kissed each other.  But that’s really as far as it went, except for a few random hands wandering here or there, and neither one seemed brave enough to venture further. 

     

    On this particular day they were in Ashley’s basement watching movies in the dark sprawled out on the pullout couch bed. 

     

    “Are we doing anything tonight?  Because I’m not against not moving for the rest of the evening.”  Spencer spoke without taking her eyes off the screen.

     

    ‘And I’m perfectly content with staying in this bed with you.’

     

    Ashley looked at her, smiled and replied, “Whatever you want princess.  I don’t really feel like moving either.  I’m actually kinda tired.” This last phrase had most recently become a means to stay in bed and both girls knew what happened when they stayed in bed.  It was the closest they came to recognizing the situation.  

     

    “I’m tired too.”  Spencer smiled to herself, again, not looking at Ashley.

     

    ‘Or something like that…’

     

    Ashley sat up, pulled the covers down and snuggled underneath them.  Spencer moved slower, but ended up the same way.  They were however, much closer than they had previously been.  Spencer was still engrossed in the movie.  Ashley was not.  Ashley rolled onto her side facing Spencer and leaned on her elbow, resting her head on her hand.  Spencer finally tore her eyes away from the TV and looked up at Ashley and smiled her 1000 watt smile. 

     

    “What’s up?” Spencer questioned, looking deep into Ashley’s eyes.

     

    ‘Tell her she has the most beautiful eyes you have ever seen.  Stop being a chicken!’
