The Princess and The Puppet – (Chapter: I Don’t Like Sharing)
CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
ASHLEY’S POV:
I can’t believe I just told off Madison like that, but damn did it feel good. I am so glad I called off the bet too. I feel like this huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now Spencer and I can just be happy, and she doesn’t have to know anything about it.
Ashley walks up to the lunch table where Spencer, Chelsea, and Kyla are. She takes a seat next to Spencer.
Spencer: Hey, is everything okay?
Ashley: Yeah, everything is perfect.
Ashley gently squeezes Spencer’s hand under the table and gives her a reassuring smile.
So I just went to practice and told the girls that I was quitting the squad and Madison was the new captain. I was kind of surprised at their reaction. They weren’t too happy that Madison was going to be the new leader of the squad. I think it’s because whenever Madison has any kind of power she acts like a slave driver. Now that that’s over with I am on my way to meet Spencer. I walk to the parking lot and see Spencer waiting for me by my car.
Ashley walks up to Spencer.
Ashley: Hey.
Spencer: Hey.
Ashley: Sorry I’m a little late, I had to talk to the girls on the squad.
Spencer: It’s okay. I didn’t mind waiting.
Ashley: So what do you want to do?
Spencer: Why don’t we go to the beach for a little while.
Ashley: Sounds good to me.
Ashley opens the door for Spencer to get in and then she gets in and they drive to the beach. They get there a few minutes later and now they are walking along the beach holding hands.
Ashley: I quit the squad today.
Spencer looks at Ashley somewhat surprised.
Spencer: Why?
Ashley: It just wasn’t for me any more. Besides Madison always liked to be the one in charge, even when I was captain.
Spencer: Well whatever makes you happy.
Ashley: What if I told you being a stripper made me happy. Would me support me then?
Spencer: Yes, if I was your only customer.
Ashley: I could work with that.
Spencer laughs.
Spencer: So you and Kyla seem be getting along pretty well lately.
Ashley: Yeah when you and Chelsea there to supervise us.
Spencer: You never told me why you two don’t get along.
Ashley: It’s a long story, but my dad had a one night stand with her mom 16 years ago. Then two years ago she shows up on our doorstep expecting a relationship out of him.
Spencer: Can you blame her for that?
Ashley: It’s more complicated than you think. My dad has been touring since I was three years old. In all that time I get to spend a week with him every year. Then she comes along and I have to share him with her.
Spencer: I understand where your coming from, but you can’t blame Kyla for your father’s mistakes.
Ashley: You sound like my therapist.
Spencer chuckles.
Spencer: I get it from my dad. He’s a social worker.
Ashley: Even though I hate to admit it, I know deep down that it’s not Kyla’s fault. But my dad has always been my best friend and I don’t want to loose him to anyone.
Spencer: You won’t lose him Ash. He loves you and I’m sure he feels the same way about you. Now would it be so bad to let Kyla have a chance to have a relationship with him?
Ashley: Even if I did try to make things right with Kyla I wouldn’t know where to start. I have been a complete bitch to her ever since we met.
Spencer: Just be the person you are when you are around me.
Ashley: A hot, sexy, girlfriend?
Spencer: Umm no. The caring, sweet, and loveable Ashley.
Ashley: I don’t know, I guess I could try working things out with her.
Spencer: Good.
Ashley and Spencer arrive at their spot under the pier. Ashley turns so she is facing Spencer.
Ashley: So did you ever find that strawberries and cream lip gloss?
Spencer smiles.
Spencer: Why don’t you kiss me and find out.
