The Slayer Chronicles: Episode 1 – (Chapter: 1 – The Big City)

After a good giggle herself, Dawn asks, “Where do we start?”

“Well, let’s start with a locator spell and once we find her approximate position, I’ll turn on the Slayer-Vision and see if we can find her.”

“We’ll find her. It’s what we’re here for. Do you need anything for your spell? Dawn, do you have all of the maps that we bought yesterday?”

    “No… nothing else… I think I have everything.”

“That’s a big yes on the maps. I’ll go get them.” She says as she jumps up off of the bed and heads to her room.

“And I’ll go brush my teeth. I hate morning breath.”

“Me too… but, that doesn’t stop me from wanting a morning kiss,” whispers Kennedy as she steals a quick kiss from Willow and rolls off of bed to go to the bathroom.

After Willow and Kennedy finish their hygiene routines, they go to the lone table in the room where Dawn is waiting for them.

“OK, this is the entire city,” Dawn says as she spreads out a map. “And I have more of the different boroughs. Why don’t they just call them suburbs like everyone else?”

“I don’t know,” says Willow distractedly. “This is good…. There is a lot of detail on this one.”

Willow goes to her suitcase and pulls out a small jar with a milky white powder in it. “You guys might want to go sit on the bed. This stuff works great, but it smells like Xander’s feet.” Kennedy and Dawn do as she says and reposition themselves on the bed.

Taking a deep breath and then expelling it, Willow sits at the table, opens the jar, and pours a small amount of the powder into her hand. “Oh Goddess of the Earth, lend me your will. I give to you the bones of a sparrow, the eyes of a hawk, and the ears of an owl. Let my mind fly as the sparrow flies. Let my eyes see as the hawk sees. Let my ears hear as the owl hears. Oh Goddess of the Earth, please find me worthy and show me where I can find the Slayer Sasha.” As she speaks, Willow gently sprinkles the powder onto the map in front of her. After she stops speaking, the room becomes still. Only the breath of the women in the room can be heard. Suddenly, the powder rises from the map and forms a small bird. It begins to circle the map, narrowing its path each time. As the miniature bird flies, Willow’s eyes become dark orbs. She watches the bird as it slowly circles and comes to rest on the map.

“I know where she is!” Gasps Willow as the powder bird bursts into a small cloud of smoke.

“That was way cool! Can you teach me that?” Asks Dawn.

“I’ll never get over the fact that my girlfriend is a witch,” says Kennedy winking. “Where are we headed?”

    “Manhattan.” Says Willow softly.

“Great! Let’s get finished with breakfast, get ready, and get going. We have our first Slayer to bag! Any questions?”

“Just one,” says Willow with a confused look on her face. “What are we supposed to do if the Slayer is blind?”
