The Way I Loved You (Chapter Six)
I remember hoping that the moment would never end. I always loved those moments with Ashley, when it was just the two of us doing absolutely nothing but soaking up each other’s presence. There weren’t many of them, we seemed to always be fighting or surrounded by other people. But I knew that I’d never forget those few perfect moments. No one could ever take them from me and none would ever compare to them.
Hugh interrupted these thoughts by walking into the kitchen with a huge smile. I put on my best fake smile as he pulled me into a soft kiss. I hoped to God that he wouldn’t cover the taste of Ashley that still lingered on my lips and I pulled away after just a second just in case. He didn’t notice though, he just dug around in his pocket.
“I told my parents today and my mother gave me something.” He said, catching my attention. Erica rolled her eyes and left the room. When I told her that I was engaged she somehow realized that I was less than thrilled about it and hadn’t left me alone about it sense. He pulled a black velvet ring box out and opened it to reveal a huge emerald cut diamond on a gold band. I had to fight a frown as he explained that it had been his great grandmothers. It was gaudy and didn’t suit me at all, I had always been a silver person and diamonds didn’t do much for me. I always thought they looked better on older women, call me Holly Golightly but that was just my opinion. It was heavy on my finger and just a little bit too big but I put on a big fake smile and he was satisfied.
Ashley’s words from earlier were still ringing in my head as I finished making the pasta and divvied it up onto three plates. I knew that she was right; Hugh deserved to find that woman who would totally his and he hers but I couldn’t bring myself to break up with him. He was so perfect, and he was one of my best friends. I know that I was being incredibly selfish but I didn’t want to lose him. I would let him go before the wedding but right now I needed him.

oh that’s just cruel of Spencer. Love the story :)
I’m with SpashLuva… it’s just going to get harder to do the longer she waits. but thank god she’s not going to marry him. and it is very selfish of her to keep stringing him along but I think she just needs someone to be there before she can totally trust ashley again. and trust herself to be with ash again. great update, pms!
glad she said she’d let him go before the wedding but lets hope before to much money is spent on said wedding and all the guests been invited pms
loved the breakfast at tiffanys reference and i so get spencer’s reasoning behind staying with hugh. i’m more of a ‘wait until the right woman comes along’ gal myself, but she feels safe with hugh and she hasn’t been with anyone since ash. he’s the COMPLETE opp of ash and she likes that. and it can’t hurt that she using him like a human sheild to keep ash away/making ashley jealous. do u feel that- we are vibing…and look, another post to read
good update. I wish Spencer would just listen to Ashley. pms!
At least Spencer realized she’s being selfish. She did a complete 360 because in the first few chapters she was all about leaving Hugh for Ashley and now that she has a chance she stalls. Now she’s going to go through the motions of planning an expensive wedding and then walking out. Yeah, Spencer that won’t hurt Hugh at all. The longer she drags it out, the worst it’s going to be for everyone involved. Cool update! PMS!
Ashley is right! let him be free.. and let the spashley start again!
