Togetherness – (Chapter: Spring Orchards)
“Thanks.” Ashley walked out the door and looked down. Only 11:15. She got in her car and sped to the nearest flower shop. She bought one dozen long stem red roses and decided to head over to Spencer’s office. She knew her attention span was crap, the more time she gave herself, the better.

Spencer got back to her office and glanced hopefully down at the clock in her car and saw that it was 11:30. She let out a breath of relief, Ashley was never early, and she was barely ever on time unless Spencer used her “special brand of coaxing”. She let her hand drop down to the seat next to her and grabbed the ring, and sticking it in her pocket and headed back into the office. “Max, I’m back!” She yelled as she rounded the corner into their suite.
She hurried into her office and made it look like she’d been there all morning. Throwing papers all over her desk, Spencer sat down and slid her shoes off and under her desk, and put her jacket on the back of the high-backed chair. She sat down in her chair and slowly breathed in and out, trying to regain her composure before Ashley got there. After a few minutes, she looked around the room and just closed her eyes, trying to imagine how this lunch would work out.

Ashley parked her car right next to Spencer’s and got out. She took her time, it was only 11:40 and being early wasn’t her style, even if it was only five minutes. She casually walked up to the building and entered, walking right to Spencer’s office. Using a pocket mirror, she looked into the office without actually entering; she saw Max sitting at his desk with Spencer in the room behind him, eyes closed.
She entered swiftly and silently, nodding to Max, making her way mutely into Spencer’s office and just stood arms crossed against the closed door for a minute. “You know, you look really cute like that.” Spencer’s eyes shot opened and her head jolted forward at the noise.
“Oh my god, how long have you been standing there?” Looking down at her watch, Spencer noticed it was only 11:43. “Are you early? I’m so proud of you!!”
