We Were Just Meant To Be – (Chapter: 15 – Everything Changes.)

After the kisses between Spencer and I, we didn’t talk about it, not because it was awkward or we were avoiding it, but because we didn’t feel the need to, what happened just felt so natural to us. The next weekend was Guy Fawkes Night which had grown to be one of my favourite nights. Fireworks, a huge bonfire and rides; how could you not enjoy that? I used to be terrified of fireworks, due to a few unsafe displays when I was younger, but I’m totally over that now. Spencer isn’t big on fireworks night but I’ve convinced her to come along this year and promised her she’ll love it. Coming along with Spencer and me are Madison and Becca, and most of the kids we know are gonna be there so it should be a good night. Four rides, four flashing swords, one funhouse and some candyfloss later we are standing waiting for the fireworks to begin and as they do I situate myself behind Spencer and wrap my arms around her waist, and she places her soft hands on top of mine as I rest my head on her shoulder, and we watch the rest of the fireworks like that. None of our friends bother to question this interaction between us, they’re used to it now, with seeing it all the time. The fireworks finally finish after a good half an hour and all four of us follow the mob out of the park. We end up walking in the same general direction as a lot of the kids we used to go to school with, Spencer and I walk side by side, hand in hand. This seems to cause Becca to ask the question that we were used to hearing by now.

“Are you guys together now?” Spencer and I turn to smile at each other as we continue to walk.

“No, we’re not together.” This causes my smile to falter slightly, but I recover before anyone notices. I know we’re not technically a couple, fuck I don’t even know what we are, but just hearing Spencer deny it out loud gets to me a little.

“Well if you guys were then I think it’d be great. You’re so cute together.” Becca smiled at us which caused two shit eating grins to appear on our faces.
