We're Going Down – (Chapter: Banana Pancakes)
Breakfast was entertaining to say the least. For a two year old Ryan has the biggest vocabulary I’ve ever heard. He talked nonstop through breakfast about everything he painted on me and what they all meant. Apparently the dragon on my forehead was trying to eat the villagers on my right arm so the knights on my left arm were going to kill him. Ashley couldn’t look at me without giggling profusely which would make me laugh so all of breakfast was spent laughing and listening. After we got done eating I went to help Ashley clean up but she said it was probably better for me to take a shower before the dragon became permanent. As much as I like Ryan’s paintings I didn’t want them on me forever so I went to clean up.
I got out of Ashley’s shower and walked into her room to see some clothes folded on her bed with a note on top. ‘I thought you might want something to wear’ This girl was the most thoughtful person ever. I put the clothes on and finished getting ready. I went back downstairs and saw Ashley and Ryan in the living room watching TV. Ashley was doing homework on the couch and Ryan was sprawled out on the floor completely enthralled in some dinosaur show.
“Homework on a Saturday? You’re such a nerd Ash.”
“Shh, I’m almost done. And I’m not a nerd.” She stuck her tongue out at me and I laughed.
“No just a kid.” This got me another tongue out and I smiled as I plopped down beside her on the couch. “A very cute kid.” I added and kissed her cheek. Ashley smiled at me and put her homework up.
We watched the rest of the dinosaur show and then put in Finding Nemo. I think me and Ashley laughed more than Ryan did. After the movie I told Ashley I should probably get home so I could see my family for a while before tonight.
“My dad will be here at 4 this afternoon, so we can leave whenever you want after that. He already said he doesn’t mind watching Ryan.”
“Okay I’ll pick you up at 5 then, if that’s alright with you.” I laced my fingers through hers as we were talking.
“Sounds perfect, I’ll see you in a few hours.” She walked me out to my car and kissed me before heading back inside.
I watched her walk in the house and sat in the car for a minute before leaving. This girl was so perfect. I thought about how nervous I was pulling up to her house yesterday and couldn’t believe everything that had happened. I knew there was a lot we still needed to talk about, but I felt so comfortable around her already. And I could see her walls slowly falling down, one by one.
‘Tonight is going to be great.’ I thought to myself as I drove to my house.
