Why Superman Could Never Find a Phone Book – (Chapter: 7: Red Rover, Red Rover, Send this Girl Right Over)
Red Rover, Red Rover, Send This Girl Right Over
Tuesday or Wednesday night, probably about 8:00pm or so, 4 years prior to the present…
Six fingers held the planchette in place against the board. Each of the three girls shifted her position to obtain the maximum amount of comfort, knowing full well that any self doubt over bodily placement, any second guessing once the game had begun could alter their futures forever. In fact, to call it a game was blasphemy.
Thick beads of precipitation snaked its way down the bedroom window, trails meeting briefly like fate had brought them together, only to pull apart again, victims of tragic circumstance. The rain was incessant the past two weeks or so, nine days in a row to be exact. The girls pretty much loathed the rain, but it did create the perfect ambiance for contacting the dead.
Candles lined the floor in a circle surrounding the ouija board and the board’s participants. Wax had begun to drip hesitantly down the base, slowly inching its way from the threat of the flame. The lights had been turned off, for the sake of the mood, the flame’s dancing softly against the surrounding walls. The closet door was shut, of course it always was, a barrier between a fourteen year old girl’s virginal innocence and the threat of the knife wielding maniac that no doubt had taken up shop amongst a pile of dirty laundry and worn out board games that never seemed to see the light of day.
Each girl had established their final positions, eyes darting anxiously around the circle, eager to start the evening’s festivities. All three let out a deep sigh, hoping this act would help somewhat in the cleansing of the soul. If an unexpected guest were to show up, neither girl wanted to be caught with a dirty soul…how embarrassing.
“Okay…so, what now?” The question was simple, exact, to the point.
“Well, we have to ask it a question. Then the ‘ pan-chit’ will move to each letter and supposedly spell stuff out.”
“It’s ‘ plan-chette’, not ‘ pan-chit,’” one of the three responded.
There was no hint of annoyance in her statement, just more fact: simple, direct, to the point.

Ok, so at first I was disappointed to find that the story had gone back in time, but I’m definately over it. So Spence, Ash, and Madison were all friends? Interesting. I also agree w/ trsim again….why is the “Next Post by This Author” button not working? But seriously, your writing is amazingly detailed and great. PMS!!!
