Chapter Two: Goodbye
———————————————————————————————————–
A little over eight months had passed. Tina was now on summer break from school and on bed rest until the birth of the baby. Tina and her mother had been in touch with an adoption agency. There was a couple already selected to be the parent’s of the baby. She read over their profile, they seemed like a nice couple who would be able to take care of the baby in every way. Mark had already signed papers relinquishing all parental rights.
As she laid in her bed she could feel the baby kick. Tina smiled. It was such an amazing sensation to feel your child growing and moving within you. “You’re a pretty strong little one” she said out loud.
The further along she was in the pregnancy, she realized just how hard it was going to be to go through with the adoption. Tina felt as if she already had a connection with the baby. She tried to do everything right, and did lots of research on what the do’s and don’ts were during pregnancy. She took her proper vitamins, she ate right, and she tried not to strain herself too much. Her mother always made sure she had regular checkups.
Janet quietly walked into Tina’s room with her lunch on a tray. She placed it down beside Tina. “How are you doing today sweetie?” Janet stroked her daughter’s blonde locks.
“I’m okay, the baby’s really moving around a lot today.” Tina smiled. “Do you want to feel her?”
Janet turned away quickly “No…that’s okay.” She started to walk towards the door way. “There’s a turkey sandwich there and some fruit and juice, if you need anything let me know I’ll be getting ready for work.”
“Thanks” Tina said before her mom left. She took out her portable CD player from her nightstand and put her headphones on to listen to music while she ate.

Tina had dozed off after having her lunch. She looked at the clock on the night stand as saw it was 5:34am. The room was dark, so she cautiously got herself out of bed and slowly made her way to the bathroom. She felt funny. There was really no other word to describe it. She flipped the light on in the bathroom. The sudden harsh light made her squint. She grabbed on to the edge of the sink. She felt a surge of pain travel up her body. “Oh my god…”
