    Taking a stand and walking away

    These silences, these moments of dead air where words echo silently off the imaginary walls in their minds were maddening. They stood miles apart on the spectrum of understanding but in reality, they was only a foot or two of distance between them. ‘What have you done?’ The sentence was so simple and direct but the answer inexplicable… no, inexcusable. What did she do? What didn’t she do? What did she try to do but fail at? For the last question, the answer was not many things but in the mission she undertook that night, she had been unsuccessful, and she cried afterwards at what she knew must’ve happened in the result of that failure.

    The days from Monday to Tuesday at school were spent in a blur. Madison moved in automatic. Her mannerisms and personality remained intact so as not to give any outward signs of her guilt but it was still eating at her. And then she saw the ‘victim’. Ashley looked like she was fine despite the downcast eyes and overall depressed aura she gave off. Then the rumors circulated. And then she noticed Spencer hadn’t been at school for the past few days. Everything clicked. Then everything crashed.

    The wrong girl, he had gotten the wrong girl. It was such a catastrophic mistake that when she realized what had happened, the shock made her head spin and she had to brace herself against the wall to keep upright. Spencer didn’t deserve that, fuck, Ashley didn’t deserve that but this was Spencer ‘I couldn’t hurt a fly even if I had a fly swatter’ Carlin. Despite the harsh words and hard feelings she had for the girl because not only did she openly defy The Queen Bee but then went and started screwing Ashley ‘Lez Bot and my 2nd worst enemy’ Davies, she was a nice girl. Not a bad bone in her body.

    Things had gone from horrible to the precursor of the Apocalypse in the span of half a day and now Dano thought she was apart of this. The thought made her stomach churn but she understood where the taller girl was coming from. If Spencer was that close to her ‘firefly’ then she was family automatically, that’s how she worked.
