A week has gone by since Halloween as the students were beginning to fall back into their daily school routine. Although unhappy to be returning to class, Ashley and Spencer were glad that they could spend every second with one another during the day.  Paula had implemented quite a few rules to keep the two apart.

She had taken away Spencer’s cell phone and laptop making communication between the two nearly impossible.  Even though Arthur and his sons sided with the young blonde Paula insisted that this was some sort of sickness.  She though of it as a sickness that would eventually dissipate if the cause suddenly disappeared.  She went so far as to instruct her sons to pry Spencer away if she and Ashley were spotted together on school grounds.

Clay and Glen agreed yet never put her thoughts into motion.  They were supportive of their sister and her decisions.  It seems that the students of King High accepted the growing number of same sex couples in the school as well.  There were no mean glares, taunting whispers, or harsh exchanges in the corridors.  Spencer felt more at ease and comfortable in her school then she did in her own home; which is a disheartening fact.

After school hours were spent longing for one another.  Clay went as far as trying to sneak Spencer out one evening but was caught by an enraged Paula.  She tightened the reins and kept a close eye on her daughter.  She would take the young girl to school and pick her up afterwards.  ‘Hawk Eyes’ as Kasey had named Paula kept Ashley at bay.  She did everything in her power to keep the two away from each other.

It was now the beginning of their lunch hour, Ashley, Kyla, and Kasey sat around one of the tables in the quad awaiting the rest of their usual small group.

“Anyone want this?”  Ashley asked holding up a vanilla pudding cup.  Kasey shook her head quietly and plopped it back down on her arms resting on the table.

“Not a big fan, thanks.”  Kyla waved her hand as Ashley shrugged and put it aside.

Just then a large jock crept up behind Kasey, “Hey Kase!”  The brunette jumped up, a tad frustrated from being disturbed in such a manner.  She turned to face the boy.
