Dinner Time
Lena’s POV:
As I arrived at the door, I knocked lightly out of nervousness. I stood there waiting for her to answer the door as I stood there with a big tray of steaming hot lasagna in my hands. Stef opened the door and we just stood there looking at each other until she greeted me into her neat home. We walked over to the dining room with Brandon already sitting there patiently and all of the dinner set. Sitting there were amazing smelling asparagus, a vegetable bowl of corn, squash, peas, and zucchini, a medium rare steak, and halibut. It all looked amazing and delicious. We both sat down and I was the first to speak.
”So, where did Brandon attend school before this?”
”He went to school in Pennsylvania and we moved here about a year ago.”
”Was there a specific reason?”
”No, we just wanted a bigger house and the school wasn’t that great. It just seemed easier to move and this was the best house we found.”
”Oh, yeah well we promise you will have no problems here.”
”Well we hope! Should we start eating?”
”Sure I’m starving.”
I didn’t want to pig out, so I took a little bit and then a little more. I didn’t put it all on my plate at once though. Stef looked at me over and over like I had something on my face or something.
”Stef, are you okay?”
”Yeah, I just. i have never-”
”Me neither.”
”Will you-”
”Of course.”
”Wow you can finish my sentences. We were definitely meant for each other.”
We kept eating and talking and laughing. It felt so natural to be in a house like this. It was just amazing. I knew that Stef was my forever and I would never let her go. We started hanging out a lot and one day when the skies were blue and no clouds were to be seen, I asked her to go to a park with me. The brown benches were the perfect seats after walking for so long. We watched the kids play on a huge blue slide while others chased each other around.
Stef’s POV:
It was the perfect day out with the perfect person. We became really close and it felt like we had known each other for ages. When we sat on the bench to watch the kite flyers run around on the perfectly cut grass while their kites flowed through the air. We talked about what we want in a family and what Lena said touched my heart.
”I don’t really know what true love or a loving family is. My mom could never find one nice thing to say to me and I used to sit home every night alone while my parents went out and partied. The only words I have never heard come out of their mouths were ’I love you’ and that’s all I ever wanted to hear. What I want is a person who can trust me as much as I will trust them. I want them to be more beautiful on the inside then they are on the outside. I want them to show me their affection even when we find our differences. I want an actual child who I can love and play with and watch grow up. I want to be known and do something great in this world because a small step could lead to amazing things.”
Hearing a person with such a big heart say these words made me tear up because I knew I could give her all of that. I leaned is just as she did and it made me so happy to kiss the person I was waiting for my whole life.
”Wow,” she said shocked.
”I know. It was amazing.”
”Every second,” she said.
”Every minute,” I said.
”Every hour,” she said.
”I will love you,” we said together.
