    3 Tina

Her eyes held a mixture of want and a daring glint, as if she had gambled and was awaiting the outcome. ’I wanted to know.’

My mind began to race, a whirlwind of fear, uncertainty, and confusion. Had I unknowingly dropped hints? Had my actions been misconstrued? I scoured through countless interactions, desperately searching for any indication that I might have inadvertently given her a signal. But what signal? What was she expecting? Sex on the set? A fling? An affair? Anything more even?

Did my friendly banter come across as flirtatious? Was there a moment of blurred lines? I tried to recall every smile, every laugh, every drink we had, attempting to decipher whether I had unintentionally opened a door that I wasn’t even aware existed. I couldn’t recall.

’But I didn’t,’ I stated firmly, repulsion evident in my voice. ’I love my wife,’ I declared, my words laced with passion and unwavering conviction.

Kate’s smirk held a hint of provocation as she rose from her seat. ’But do you really?’ Her words were a calculated challenge. ’I mean, I heard she left you and went to LA for months. With a woman like you, I wouldn’t even consider.’

Anger boiled within me. ’You don’t know her. You don’t know our life. Frankly, you don’t even know me, and that’s because I didn’t want you to.’ I retorted, my voice strained as I struggled to maintain control. My heart raced. I knew Bette. I knew how she would react. I was fucked. ’Fuck you Kate!’

’Alright,’ Kate’s responded calmly, slipping her sunglasses down, her tone suggestive. ’If you ever change your mind, you know where to find me.’

    ’Anddd…cut! Excellent work Catherine!’

    3.8 Tina

With swift, determined steps, I bounded up two flights of stairs, reaching the first floor without breaking my stride. The door to Renee’s apartment swung open at my touch, my purse dropping onto the dresser as I entered. ’Hi Renee,’ I greeted her in passing, my gaze already sweeping across the room. The inviting aroma of Bette’s coq au vin guided me toward the kitchen, each step fueling me. As if I came home from work on an ordinary day of our life, Bette beamed a smile at me.

    1. Good thing that Tina finally voiced what she needed: Bette at home in their appartement. Tina off of work for a while should give them some time to talk. If Bette gets some free time as well – without being fired.
      Thanks for posting!

    2. Beautiful written rewrite, the details of everything, the insights of what Tina is thinking and feeling and she finally voiced what she needed, and that was for Bette to come home.

Truly devastating if you loose your child and even more devastating if you close of your pain, trying desperately to move on. Plagued by nightmares of that night you loose your daughter. Feeling guilty because you were not able to give your wife the daughter you so wanted. Both of them feel guilty, they need to talk about it, share there feelings, their grieve instead of trying to hide it.
Bette coming home is a good start.
