The day had gone on and on, Bette was exhausted. She took the elevator up to her apartment and couldn’t wait to just crawl into bed and sleep. When the doors opened Samantha was standing outside her apartment with a bottle of wine in her hand. “Oh shit” Bette mumbled forgetting she had made plans for tonight.

“Bette, hi!” Sam looked liked she had won the golden ticket, well let’s face it she had…for tonight. “Hey, Sam. You look great” Bette looked her up and down, she definitely looked better out of that cafe uniform. “Thank you. I brought wine” Bette turned her key letting her in.

They made small talk about their jobs, Bette not giving away too much information. She mainly sat there and listened to Sam babble about where she wanted to be in the next 5 or so years. The wine was getting to Bette’s head and she was starting to feel tired. “Sam, I’m sorry I’ve had an extremely busy day today and I’m exhausted could we maybe do this some other time?” Bette stood up to show her to the door. She pushed Bette up against the door.

“Or I could stay?” She fiercely kissed Bette, pulling her waist in closer to hers. Bette walked her backwards into her bedroom, falling down onto the bed. She sucked onto her neck whilst unbuttoning her blouse, “I’ve wanted to do this since you first walked into ‘Cafe Six’”
All Bette could do was moan; she had nothing to respond to that. Samantha left after they had slept together; she knew the deal and most of the girls did.

The next morning Bette sent James to get coffee in case there was any awkwardness between the two girls from the night before. “Thanks James”
“So did you sleep with the sweet innocent coffee girl?” He giggled, even though he was her assistant she always got the coffee in the morning, he knew something had happened. Bette gave him daggers, “It’s more action than you’re getting” Bette laughed. She always questioned why James was never dating some smart long term relationship seeking woman that he deserved, there was no way he could still be in love with her, right?

“Whatever” James hit her arm softly. “You are totally fired” she joked as he sat down at his desk located outside her office. The two went back to work before James started talking again. Bette usually left her door open so they could communicate with one another. “Hey did you receive this invitation from Facebook?” He had already click print to show her. “You know I don’t go on that thing”

“Well this is why you should” he handed her the invitation. It was a ’00 Cannington High School reunion. “No one goes to their high school reunion, plus it’s only been 5 years everyone still knows each other” She threw it on top of a load of paper work. James logged into the website provided on the flyer into Bette’s computer. “119 students disagree with you”

“Can you see whose going” Bette swallowed the lump in her throat. Her heart started to race wondering if Tina was going. “Uh…no…but we should totally go! It’ll give us a chance to catch up with our families and see all our old friends”

“My dad hasn’t spoken to me since he found out I was gay, my mother never wants to see or hear from me ever again and I don’t recall us having that many friends in high school…I’d say we were more like loners”

“Yeah but look at us now, we can rub it in their faces!” James smiled from ear to ear. “And we can see Alice and Shane again. Pleaseeeee Bette, come with” Bette rolled her eyes and eventually gave in. “Fine, let’s go”
